We might not be getting any additional stages in Splatoon, but we are certainly being catered for on the weapons front thanks to Sheldon’s Picks Vol. 2. The Splatoon Tumblr has rather handily provided us with information on the new arsenal of weapons that will be at your disposal once the update drops. Check them out all, below.
Grim Range Blaster
Introducing the Grim Range Blaster: a Range Blaster remodeled by Sheldon! Inklings have described it as “totally metal.” Between the Burst Bombs sub and the explosive main, it’s truly an aggressive set capable of dispatching opponents with frightening speed
Bento Splatterscope
This set suits (passive) aggressive squids who like to pick off opponents from a distance. Blammo!
Bento Splat Charger
The Bento Splat Charger features some weird green stuff Sheldon found washed up on a beach. We agree with Sheldon and think it’s pretty cool. It’s basically the same as the regular Splat Charger, but Sheldon amped up the defense with a Splash Wall. The Echolocator makes this set perfect for caring souls who love to support their teammates.
N-ZAP ’83
The N-ZAP ’83 is an N-ZAP ’85 that Sheldon modified to faithfully recreate a classic limited-edition piece. It’s so faithful, in fact, that players think the buttons might stick a bit sometimes… But that’s not a bug – it’s a feature, right? The Point Sensor and Kraken make for a set that is handy for cutting off your opponents’ advance.
Cherry H-3 Nozzlenose
Check out the super sweet Cherry H-3 Nozzlenose. The Splash Wall sub weapon lets you leverage the great range of the main, while the Bubbler is perfect for turning the tables in a pinch.
Sploosh-o-matic 7
The Sploosh-o-matic 7 retains the stats of the original model while adding more strategic options. The short-range main has been bolstered by mid- and long-range sub and special weapons, allowing you to fight effectively at any distance.
CoroCoro Splat Roller
It has a new hollow-titanium frame, ball-bearing joints, steering dampers, super stabilizers… So many new parts, in fact, that it kind of… came full circle. The specs ended up identical to the Splat Roller.
Heavy Splatling Remix
Meet the Heavy Splatling Remix. It’s not a remix to your favorite headbanger – It’s, uh, a remixed version of the Heavy Splatling. Warm up the crowd with the Sprinkler sub and then drown ’em out with the devastating Killer Wail for an encore.
Aerospray PG
The Aerospray PG is best described as a little update to the Aerospray MG that Sheldon built from his grandpappy’s blueprints. No matter how you describe it, it’s definitely a hand-crafted work of art. Burst Bombs help claim turf and the Kraken crushes enemy defenses.
Why won’t more weapons sets use the Ink Mine? It’s so underused.
Underused? Not when I’ve played. I have been splatted by many an Ink-mine, and if you had asked me, I would have said it’s one of the more common subs I see used against me.
Inversely, though my most used weapons don’t have mines, when I do use them, it is very satisfying to push the territory line forward, place a strategic mine, and then lauch to another part of the map to help a team mate, only to get the message you splatted someone trying to take back your territory … from the other side of the map.
What I mean is, only 3 or 4, maybe 5, weapons have the mine as its sub. The only two I can think of offhand are the Luna Blaster and the Aerospray RG. More weapons use the Seeker than the Mine, and only one has a Seeker Rush special.
…oh my gods, can you imagine a Mine Rush? Just make an entire minefield or a string of mines down a narrow passage? There would be no escape for some poor sap who thought it would be easy turf.
a mine rush would be amazing, the arowana mall back alleys would be dangerous lol
Or just about any part of Port Mackerel.
I wonder if the nzap 83 will actually have a trigger that sticks, that would be pretty funny, looking forward to trying it out tonight!
Until the stuck trigger forces you to use too much ink so you can’t use your sub and it creates an inopportune moment.
For comedic purposes, that would work. From a gameplay standpoint, I think that could cause too much frustration, especially in Ranked Mode.
I would think you could just go into squid form to cancel it out, i’m interested to see what that gun will be like tonight, i normally main the nzap85 and have been wanting to have the kraken as an option ^^
so few guns float my boat in splatoon
i almost always used the same one
which one did you use?
I like the Sploosh-o-matic 7’s color, not so much the design. I like Heavy Splatling Remix’s color AND design. The rest are meh.
Sadly, all the Sploosh-O-Matics are designed like that. I don’t use them because their range is ridiculously short- if you want to hit an opponent, you practically need to be hugging them.
