Aonuma Says That Skyward Sword HD Is “Definitely Possible”

The Legend of Zelda has been the highlight of Nintendo’s E3 announcements, with fans finally getting a long awaited glimpse into the The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the Wii U and Nintendo NX.

With all this talk of The Legend of Zelda, IGN asked about a HD version of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Aunoma advised that the Breath of the Wild is a result of what they wanted to expand, and make a better Skyward Sword. He stated that tossing a Skyward Sword HD remake “might be a little weird” but it is always a possibility:

“Yeah it’s definitely possible. As I mentioned earlier in the presentation, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a result of what we wanted to expand and make a better Skyward Sword. It’s like an evolved or expanded version.”

“Putting out an HD version of Skyward Sword and tossing that into the mix might be a little weird,” he said. “It’s always a possibility, so I really don’t know.”

  1. I love Skyward Sword, but it just doesn’t need an HD remake.

I would rather have HD console versions of Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks instead.

    1. If they are given traditional controls instead of those stupid stylus controls, I’ll gladly support HD versions of those DS titles.

    1. If you are interested in Breath of the Wild & can’t wait to play it, you do realize that game is using the same “graphics”, right?

      1. The graphical style may look a bit similar but the quality of how it’s presented puts them miles apart, and BotW will have more tech to power it to make it look superior. BotW’s graphics also look less like a mishmash of two different styles and more like they’ve decided to confidently go in one direction with the look (at least more so than SS) and I expect it to look better when it’s released next year.
When I was playing SS and crawling through a tunnel in first person view, it looked like the first Doom game. I don’t think I’ll be seeing that shit with BotW.

        1. Skyward Sword getting an HD remaster might be just what it needs to look better. It does feel & look like the game would have been better suited for an HD console. Anyway, if you meant more the quality of the graphics than the actual artstyle, I see what you mean.
