Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Is Mainly Single-Player, But Aonuma Wants To Make Another Multiplayer Zelda

Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma revealed in an interview with IGN that Zelda: Breath of the Wild will focus purely on a single-player experience. However, he’s still very interested in multiplayer. Aonuma commented that “I would like to take what I learned from Breath of the Wild and see if we can somehow fuse those learning points into another multiplayer Zelda. For example, with Triforce Heroes, which followed a similar format of Four Swords, there was a multiplayer involved in that game. That’s definitely a possibility and we will continue to [experiment] throughout the Zelda franchise”.

  1. DUDE if they made a Zelda MMO that’d be amazing! It’d have to be a spin off where you play as someone other than Link or they could explain that Link was split into a million Links and you’d all play as Links lol. I’d be down for that

  2. This game needs online play; its too big of a game for it not to have it. A simple online co-op could be cool. There are plenty of simple ways to implement online play.

    I’LL keep my hopes low…

    1. Not sure if you’ve seen my previous conments, but I really wanted them to add local or online multiplayer in Breath of the Wild. They could make enemies stronger, and you could race others to a point you all see on the map from far away. You could gather resources, such as defeating enemies for better weapons, armour (for weather too) and try to see the fastest way of getting there such as shield sliding. You could also play hide and seek or retrieve an item first to a certain spot. The possibilities.

  3. At this point, there is zero chance for online play, and I’m fine with that. This is Zelda, not a MMO game.

I’m OK if they want to try to add multi-player in the future, similar to Destiny perhaps, or Xenoblade, Hell, even ME3, but not this time. Let’s just get it out the door ASAP.

  5. While I don’t think Zelda is the best series for multiplayer, it can afford a bit of experimentation and additional titles like last year’s Triforce Heroes, hopefully better though.

Unlike another franchise celebrating its 30th anniversary this year that CAN’T afford such derivatives…

    1. “ARE YOU EXCITED FOR METROID!?! WE GOT JUST THE GAME FOR YOU FOR IT’S 30TH ANNIVERSARY!!! METROID PRIME: FEDERATION FORCE!!! IT’S NOT WHAT YOU WANTED BUT WE ARE GOING TO SHOW YOU WHY YOU SHOULD LIKE IT SO PLEASE BUY IT SO WE CAN SHOW YOU JUST HOW GREAT THIS GAME REALLY IS!!!”

      1. Just like with the new Ghostbusters movie (may that movie rot on shelves for all eternity), we’ve seen enough to know it’s not what we wanted, it’s not going to be good, and they did things with it that will put the franchise into more danger.

At least people are coming together in droves and saying “enough is enough” about crap like that.

        1. Meanwhile, we got the media painting us all as sexists when the fact it’s an all female group isn’t the issue we have with it. I’m more pissed about the comedy style they went with! Where’s my fucking dry humor!? Unless it has Chris Farley or Jim Carrey in it, I don’t want to see a shitload of physical comedy! Good luck with that accusation when billions of people don’t go to see the movie & only a few thousand do, fucktards!
