Mojang has announced on their official blog that the Minecraft movie will be released on May 24th, 2019. The movie will also be in 3D and IMAX. The team commented on the long wait to release, saying that “Yes, that might seem like a long time away, but it just so happens to be the right amount of time to make it completely awesome. And we all want an awesome Minecraft movie, right?”

What’s up with all these video game based movies coming out lately? I wouldn’t be surprised if the next one was Candy Crush, Clash of Clans, or Plants vs Zombies.
a dream works animated plants VS zombies actually sounds bad ass. like in the style of shreck? I dont even like or play that game, but the idea sounds pretty cool for a movie

The Incredibles 2 (Pixar) is coming out June 2019. I guess it’s to plan ahead what day you’ll be skipping work.

At least a Pong movie will make sense if it’s similar to The Wizard where a group of kids go to some video game competition but the thing is all about Pong. They could call it The Pong Master! xD

Alright. I guess I’ll just stop assuming the worst when they announce movies like this. When I first heard about The Lego Movie, it sounded ridiculous. But look how it turned out. I think to us it sounds stupid to us because we don’t see stuff like Legos as more than just building blocks or whatever. But they actually made it into something we didn’t expect it to be
So there’s no telling how it will turn out. I personally find Minecraft boring. But I did think MC Story Mode was entertaining. So I do think this movie could turn out rather well.
Now watch we get a fucking Candy Crush movie at this point. It already happened for the Angry Birds.
I hope they use really high end ideas and graphics. so help me if its all pixilated and things move worse then a south park episode I’m going to be really disappointed. also I hope the movie dues not take place in a game world…..that always ruins game movies, when they try to be all self referencing and meta.
WoW flopped harder than Pixels. Nobody wants a Minecraft movie, especially in 3 years. Why do all these video game developers all of a sudden think that just because a game is popular it will transfer over to the big screen? Nine out of ten times, it doesn’t…
..I hate to shatter what is clearly a minuscule world-view, but Warcraft is the single highest grossing video game movie ever made, because China.
The movie only made 40 million domestic with a 160 million dollar budget. Yes, technically because of China it made its money back plus a little profit. But I would hardly call that a success. It bombed everywhere BUT China… There wont be a sequel, and if there is they might as well cast it in Chinese.
WoW was probably the first commercial thing to showcase the fabled “China difference”. It flopped hard in the entire world but only because of China it actually became the highest grossing video game film.

Too much trouble for a Star Fox movie with Henson Creature Shop puppetry, or a CGI animated Mario movie? Even a live-action Punch-Out movie would be good. They could get the guy from The Office to play Doc Louis.

Speaking of video game movies, I need to remember to get Warcraft when it hits bluray. I wonder why it’s not doing well. If it’s because of the CGI orcs, fucking stupid reason to not go & see the movie. If you’ve played World of Warcraft or even seen trailers for the expansion packs featuring the orcs, you know the orcs are massive as fuck and CGI was necessary as they would have looked stupid otherwise. But I guess it’s to be expected since George Lucas has caused people to hate CGI because of the prequel Star Wars movies.
Nope. Still plenty of CGI movies that are doing good.
I meant movies with CGI mixed with live action. Warcraft has live action as well as CGI so it doesn’t count as a CGI movie like say Angry Birds or Toy Story. it seems like many people are hating on CGI mixed with live action cuz of Lucas. Or maybe I’m just paying too much attention to the vocal minority concerning CGI mixed with live action. *shrug* Whatever. As long as Warcraft didn’t end on a cliffhanger or an ending that leaves too much room for a sequel, I’ll be fine with it being a standalone movie. Just like I can still enjoy The Monster Squad, Beetlejuice, Street Fighter with Jean-Claude Van Damme, Super Mario Bros the Movie even though that did end on a cliffhanger (guilty pleasure & I’m not ashamed to admit I fucking loved that movie whether it was true to the source material or not.) lol
