If you see a Nintendo Entertainment System on store shelves this holiday shopping season, you haven’t entered a time machine. (Unless everyone around you is wearing acid-washed jeans and neon leg warmers. If that’s the case, you may have unknowingly walked through a rift in the space-time continuum.) The most likely scenario is you are setting eyes on the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition, launching in stores on Nov. 11 at a suggested retail price of $59.99. That’s right: The NES is back! But this isn’t the same NES that you fondly remember. This new nostalgia-fueled system is a near-identical, mini replica of Nintendo’s original home console and plugs directly into your high-definition TV using an included HDMI cable. The console comes complete with 30 NES games built in, including beloved classics like Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, PAC-MAN, and Kirby’s Adventure.
“We wanted to give fans of all ages the opportunity to revisit Nintendo’s original system and rediscover why they fell in love with Nintendo in the first place,” said Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime. “The Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition is ideal for anyone who remembers playing the NES, or who wants to pass on those nostalgic memories to the next generation of gamers.”
The system comes packaged with an HDMI cable, an AC adapter and one NES Classic Controller, which is patterned after the iconic design of the original NES controller. But you really just want to know the full list of 30 games, right? Feast your eyes on the fantastic collection of NES classics included with each and every system:
- Balloon Fight™
- BUBBLE BOBBLE
- Castlevania™
- Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest™
- Donkey Kong™
- Donkey Kong Jr. ™
- DOUBLE DRAGON II: THE REVENGE
- Dr. Mario™
- Excitebike™
- FINAL FANTASY®
- Galaga™
- GHOSTS’N GOBLINS®
- GRADIUS™
- Ice Climber™
- Kid Icarus™
- Kirby’s Adventure™
- Mario Bros. ™
- MEGA MAN® 2
- Metroid™
- NINJA GAIDEN
- PAC-MAN™
- Punch-Out!! ™ Featuring Mr. Dream
- StarTropics™
- SUPER C™
- Super Mario Bros.™
- Super Mario Bros. ™ 2
- Super Mario Bros. ™ 3
- TECMO BOWL
- The Legend of Zelda™
- Zelda II: The Adventure of Link™
There’s a little something for everyone: a nice mix of timeless favorites, cult classics and maybe even some games that you never got around to playing. Each is sure to bring back memories and produce plenty of new ones. You can even enjoy playing several of these games with two players by attaching a second NES Classic Controller, which will be sold separately at a suggested retail price of $9.99. A Classic Controller or Classic Controller Pro can also be used (each sold separately).
When connected to a Wii Remote controller, the NES Classic Controller can also be used to play Virtual Console NES games on a Wii U or Wii system. Playing these retro games using a retro controller makes the experience that much more authentic. And if you ever need to step away from the NES Classic Edition in the middle of a tough level (or take a break to call one of Nintendo’s helpful Game Counselors*), don’t worry about losing any hard-earned progress. Each game has multiple suspend points, so you can start where you left off at a later time, no passwords needed.
What’s old is new again with the Nintendo Entertainment System: NES Classic Edition. Relive past glories. Finish off that boss you never beat. Save the galaxy and rescue the princess!

Thanks, Mankey and Jacob
So I don’t suppose it has a working cart slot?
So that’s what the Nintendo NX is, it’s just a Mini version of the NES xD
No it ain’t
Yes, yes it is. But this isn’t even it’s final form, just wait till you hook up fifty or so supplemental computing devices to this thing
I want one 😢
Specially if it ends getting hacked. I would add all the NES games to it.
I would love to play Faxanadu or Krusty’s Fun House. I only remember watching my dad play them when I was younger.
I dont think I’ve heard of Faxanadu, but Krustys Fun House was/still is awesome! Get yourself an emulator and play those. That Simpsons game was a licenced game so idk what the chances are of that ever returning again.
Krusty’s Fun House was a very fun game and I played the living hell of it and it was so underrated but you can not forget about Bart’s Nightmare. That game was truly phenomenal
I played Bart’s Nightmare on the Genesis. It was also on the NES?! I do agree that it’s an amazing game.
Bart’s Nightmare was NOT on the NES. It was on the Super NES.
Oh Like BN aswell, but I always found that game extremely difficult. I dont think I ever beat it either.
Faxanadu is what I consider to be the first RPG I’ve ever seen. Check it out on YouTube. The music is phenomenal!
Ill givebit a try, I still have my psp so ill download it (borrow it) for that lol.
It would be cool just to look at, whether I played it or not
Yeah, I simply want it to add it to my collection. Looks real nice!
For sure… I mean, Im sure people would pay close to that for just a mini replica, but since it plays the games, BONUS
Wow, that’s actually really cool! As someone who was born after the NES era, I never really got to experience Nintendo’s first console in a genuine experience. I would love to get this so I can play classic games I’ve already played (via Virtual Console), but on the console that started it all with the controller that started it all.
Getting it.
Same…….my NES stopped working due to being so aged a couple of years ago and I just have to get it for nostalgia reasons. Now only if they’ll make a mini-SNES…..that thing would fly off of store shelves
I’m crossing my fingers for that one. It’d be worth it just for Super Mario World, A Link to the Past and Super Metroid alone. The problem being, how do you pick JUST 30 games out of the entire SNES catalog?
Why stop there, though?
Mini-N64?
Mini-GameCube?
Mini-Virtual Boy?
(… ok, the last one was pretty stupid. I’m sorry.)

mind blown
All this money I’ve spent over the years on virtual console games…. TIME TO SPEND SOME MORE MONEY!!!
On a more serious note, this is probably one of the best things Nintendo has done in a long time. I’m almost more hyped for this than Pokémon Sun and Moon (which incidentally comes out a week later than this RIP wallet)

I’m getting one for sure. It’ll be a great console to start my little sisters on. Minimal controls and simple graphics. I wonder if there will be room for a second controller?
There is. You can buy another controller separately or plug a Wii classic controller in, if you have one.
I’m actually really excited to just have that controller to play VC games, i’ve been wanting one of these that attaches to the wiimote since the original wii
I have one. It’s pretty neat. The only thing that bothers me is the placement of the Z buttons. Not that you’ll be using them with VC games anyway.
Now if they’ll only release an extension cord for the classic controller I already have… The wire is so short..
It really is. Maybe some third-party extender exists somewhere, I don’t know
$60 is a great price for something like this. I wonder if I will buy it when November comes around…
Anybody know if Japan is getting a Famicom version? I would almost spend a little more to import one just to mix it up a little bit since I’ve played all of these games so many times.
Please make a mini-SNES!!!!
Is dis a follow up to da wii? Cos da only ting they did since den was da controller add on wat had a screen on it.
No it isn’t, just a revisit to Nintendo’s start. You lousy troll.

Play your favorite 8 bit games in HD! With it’s next gen graphics you can never go wrong with the NES!
How creepy and disturbing is this announcement. Why a Nintendo Classic, and why now? In March of 2017 is the NX, and then November this thing? why? Nintendo what are you up to?
How cool would it be if Sega did this with the Genesis?

*In Joseph Joestar’s voice* OH MY GOD!
The picture you posted is a sega genesis clone it was made by atgames not sega. This new ones classic mini isn’t a clone its actually made by Nintendo.
huh interesting. ironically, it’s compatible with the original official genesis cartridges
Yes but that 3rd party mini-Genesis can’t upscale those games in HD like the new mini-NES can plus you can’t save your progress within the game either. The mini-Genesis was just intended be there for people who loved the Genesis but if you have the original Genesis there’s really no reason to get that thing unless you haven’t played those games that comes with it or at least some of them
Lol! Dudes don’t know Sega did this month’s and years ago. This is just another idiotic thing from Nintendo to try and sell me off my childhood. At least we can sleep good at night knowing that Nintendo will have at least 1 good system on shelves this year, and I don’t mean the fucking Wii U
You’re talking about the Wii, right?
The AtGames Sega Genesis is licensed by Sega. It’s an official console (on a chip).
And this Sega Genesis one doesn’t have very good sounding audio. My brother has one, and I tested it and hated it!
The ONLY good thing about the Genesis one is that you can plug real Sega Genesis cartridges in it and most of them will play. Minus the original sound.

This couldn’t possibly be happening because VC games wont’ transfer to NX….right? :)
No Contra. How could they leave out Contra?
as long as they had metroid and zelda1 and zelda2 its awesome oh yeah and castlevania
Super C = Super Contra
Because #FuckKonami
oh my, i want this so badly

The Top of the console looks to be one piece. So, no opening cartridge door… :( Besides being the size that it is, if the door did work the slot would be too small for an actual cart. Sorry the dream of actual carts working seems to be dead. Plus Nintendo would not make any money off people using actual carts anyway. Kick that idea to the curb!
The real question, is it net based and can you download more ROMS to the unit. Kind of like the virtual
console. That would be sweet!
Must get. This sounds too good to be true.
Awww yeahhh!!! (But they left out contra..)
Super C is the sequel to Contra, so at least there is that.
OK $60 in US so what about the rest of the world. Do we know if the product is available elsewhere??

Need (… even though I have a NES with many of these games already).
I just soft modded my wii so I have access to every single NES/SNES games. Will my NES/SNES ROMs run/look better on my wii or this?
This looks like a good trip up nostalgia lane. Definatly a good idea to purchase one so i can mod it and make it a portable nes
I’m glad Nintendo made this instead of a third party company. Because you KNOW the quality will be good.
Aaaand I already have 5 of those on my Wii U VC.
Still, this might be what I need to get myself to try Ghosts ‘n Goblins and the first Final Fantasy.
You read my thoughts and bring it. Thank you! Link
My only wish is that this would have had a slot that played real cartridges as well. I always wanted a more modern, reliable NES that wasn’t 30 years old.
defiantly getting this~
