Pokemon GO Has Caused GameStop’s Merch Sales To Go Up “100 Percent”

GameStop CEO J. Paul Raines said in an interview with US Gamer that Pokemon Go has led to a significant increase in sales at certain GameStop stores. Raines said that “we did some family events and our sales were up a 100 percent. Our Pokemon merchandise is up significantly across the board. So we’re very happy to see all this excitement around Pokemon in what is traditionally a slower time of the year for video gaming”.

Thanks, MasterPikachu6

    1. I think that would mean it essentially doubled? I just noticed that does sound kinda weird. You’d think they’d say up 200%.

    2. it means it went up by 1, in other words if it was 400 and went up by 100%, you’d have 800.

Basically if, and this is just an example, 400 is stable or flatlined, it has grown by 0%, so it stays at 400.
If it was to grow by 50%, it’d gain half of it’s total, a gain of 200, which would come out to 600.
If it was to fall by 75%, it’d lose 3/4ths of it’s total, a loss of 300, which would come out to 100

    3. No…. it means it went up by 100%.

As in, it doubled. Simple statistical terminology.

      1. There used to be a place for good trade in deals here.
Then GameStop came and forced almost all of the competition out.
After they got most of the prominent competitors out, they started ripping people off, not only in trade ins.

  1. Funny.. my brother and I each have pokemon go, we went into 2 GameStops yesterday, bought stuff in each of them, and didn’t get a single Pokémon related item.
