Yoshi’s Woolly World Is Coming To Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo of America has confirmed today during the Nintendo Direct that Yoshi’s Woolly World will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS. The game will also join Super Mario Maker which was also announced today as coming to Nintendo 3DS. To celebrate this there will be a Poochy amiibo figure launching alongside the game next year.

  1. One of the best things about Woolly World was the gorgeous HD visuals. I might get this just to add to my collection, but I don’t see myself playing it.

Great game though, glad that 3DS owners will be able to enjoy it.

I feel like Kirby and the rainbow curse would have been a better fit for the 3DS. Especially since you’re staring at the bottom screen 95% of the time. At least with the 3DS, you can glance up and down very quickly.

      1. I can agree with that. Although those awesome claymation visuals wouldn’t have looked nearly as good. I didn’t have a problem with rainbow curse being on Wii U, but it would’ve fit better on 3DS for sure, just for the gameplay alone.

  2. What in the actual fuck? More Wii u exclusives coming as 3ds games, that’s fucking bullshit. Why the fuck did they even make a Wii U if every fucking Wii U game is coming to 3DS?

    1. My theory is that it’s probably because the Wii U’s sales have been so poor that Nintendo have started porting titles to other systems. I had a feeling this would happen back when they announced Hyrule Warriors Legends, now they’ve done it with Yoshi’s Woolly World and Super Mario Maker.

No doubt this is an attempt to try and squeeze as much cash out of these games as possible. They cost a lot of money to produce and as the Wii U has essentially failed to generate substantial, if any profit, Nintendo are likely looking to make at least some of that money back by re-releasing them onto a more popular system.

  3. It’s fucking bullshit. I think this is gonna sour me from buying the next Nintendo home console. No fucking wonder the Wii U failed. They treat the home console fans like absolute dog shit. The 3ds gets all the attention, while they give the Wii U little to none. Third parties fucked the system, now Nintendo is digging it an even deeper hole
Hyrule Warriors, Mario maker, and yoshi all ported to the 3ds while we get remasters on the U, we get games like star fox zero (no new story, same levels etc) super smash already on the 3ds, New Mario bros and 3D world (already have versions on 3ds) Kirby (easily a 3ds game) etc.

    1. If it weren’t for the Wii U having poor sales, there might not have been so many ports. From Nintendo’s perspective, it makes plenty of sense to port games that would sell a lot better on their handheld which has sold millions more than Wii U. If you were in charge of those things at Nintendo, wouldn’t you do the same? It’s a smart business move.

I don’t see why it really affects you though. You can still play these games on Wii U, in HD, on a TV. Wii U also still has exclusivity on Bayonetta 2, Mario Kart 8, Captain Toad, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Pokken Tournament, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Wonderful 101, Nintendo Land, Splatoon… And.. “same levels” for Star Fox Zero? I don’t understand. I grew up playing SF64, and I got a 100% completion on SFZero. I didn’t come across a single level that was a replica of a level from SF64. They were all new level designs. Most of the same planets, sure, but that doesn’t make it the same level lol.

Anyway, Wii U is dead. It doesn’t really matter if Nintendo digs it a deeper hole now, they’ve clearly already decided to abandon it to focus on NX. But, 3DS still sees good sales, so it’s not a surprise to see they’re still supporting it. Breathe of the Wild and Color Splash are really the only big titles left for Wii U.

      1. They’re porting these games to the 3DS with more content, while the Wii U gets left out in the dust, if they wanted better sales, they should have made a better system, promoted it better, and made more games for it, they have the money, they could’ve helped to fund more third party exclusives, or they could of bought up the good developers like shin.

I think they’re satisfied with having it on the NX for now. Xenoblade Wii had a hard enough time getting on the NN3DS. I really can’t see BOTW getting ported very well at all.

  4. Keep the Wii U games going to 3DS coming, guys! Now to wait for Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, Fatal Frame 5, XCX (they might find a way to break the game into multiple parts so it can fit on the n3DS without trouble), Paper Mario: Color Trash, Animal Crossing: amiibo Festival, Wind Waker HD in 3D, Zombi U, oh wait! That’s already been ported somewhere else! xD

Did I miss any exclusives, guys?

  5. And now I can feel cheap for even OWNING the Wii U version.

What next, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, a handheld rerelease of a game originally on a console, which is a sequel to a handheld game? *mind blown*

  6. some people justify the port from wii U to New 3DS due to the commercial failure of the WII U. I can aceept it to an extend but the failure is caused by whom???? let me give you a clue Ninten..

One of the reason the wii U failed is how much Nintendo focus on Japan market and the way nippon players play games but “bearly” care about the west. And I would not be surprise if it was the reason so many marketing guys in Europe left Nintendo last year and this year.

US is important to them cause they manage to sell a lot there (to be fair US is an easy market) and some games even performed better than Japan. However Nintendo always fail to understand this market and don’t even let me start on Europe market with 50 countries (at least) to satisfy. On the side note this is where Sony and Microsoft do better than Nintendo (just look at the sell). If I can resume Nintendo of doing this. We please the Japanese market and we will try our luck in USA and if it work again do the same in Europe.

You can clearly see it the way Nintendo do things. The 3DS is not just successful cause of the product itself. They have to work hard at it and they promoted the damn thing until they are happy with it. The Wii U was not that lucky and never had a chance since it was never intended to please the Japanese market.

    1. I can understand Nintendo is trying to show some nationalism for their country but when you take your company international, you have a responsibility to your customers abroad as well as at home. And when Nintendo does take other countries into account, they always seem to focus on the lowest common denominator, aka prudish parents that would rather a company babysit their child then actually do what a parent should do: parent their damn kids themselves!

    2. It’s like a rich person getting upset with how the nanny is raising their children. If you want them raised a certain way, do it your god damn self instead of paying someone else to do it! D:<
