Ubisoft Says Nintendo Has Learned From The Wii U With The Nintendo NX

Ubisoft has been quiet open about Nintendo’s forthcoming NX platform in recent days. IGN caught up with Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot at a company event yesterday to quiz him about the Nintendo NX and see what he thought of the platform. He says the thing to take away is that Nintendo has learnt plenty of lessons from the Wii U and the Nintendo NX is a platform that should appeal to everyone.

“I think, once again, the interface is very attractive. It’s a machine that will be easy to use for all gamers. They have built in something that will give us chance to really have a different experience from what exists today. That’s what I like – that they come with something new that is adapted to what we actually want now.”

“It’s difficult to answer that [before NX is revealed]. What we see is that Nintendo has learned from the Wii U. All publishers learn from what they do, and then come with something new and more attractive, which I think is the case here.”

  1. well he says that now but if the sales are not good or the industry bash the NX like they did with the Wii U then he will sing another tune like: “we wait the install base is big enough to launch that game on this platform”.

    1. i don’t get why so many of you guys are being so salty towards Ubisoft. You guys need to remember that Ubisoft is a business with employees to pay and share holders to satisfy. They are in the industry to make money. Ubisoft made a strong effort on the WiiU, more than any other AAA 3rd party developer. From a business standpoint the WiiU was not a good bet for triple A 3rd party devs. the system was vastly different from an architecture standpoint from the PS4 and XBOX One and a lot less powerful which would require a lot of resources to port AAA games to it. Now when you take all of that into consideration along with the very low WiiU install base you can clearly see why it doesn’t make good business sense for devs to put their AAA games on it.

      1. I agree 100%.
There are people on this site I respect that hate Ubisoft, and so we just have to agree to disagree.
Nintendo fucked over the WiiU way worse than Ubisoft ever did. Is Ubi perfect? Hell no, but they released some Hellava fun games when WiiU owners were left to rot by Nintendo.
        Zombie was so much Fun.
        Splinter Cell Blacklist was amazing.
Nintendo fans got fucked on the Rayman Release deal, I agree, but it was awesome.
Child of Light was so creative and fun, albeit closer to an Indie game.

Nintendo Launched with rehash and promises of games that wouldn’t get released for years to dishonestly project a “hardcore gamer” mask.

I’m sorry the Rayman fans got shafted, but after Nintendo’s lack of support and gimp ed games, Nintendo fans have no right to throw stones at Ubisoft.

        1. Don’t forget people wanting Watch Dogs on Wii U also got shafted when they promised the game would make unique use of the Gamepad & all we got was it being used as a map. *shrug* Oh well.

      2. Actually I took that into consideration what you said in my previous comments but still what they did and the way they did it was wrong. It’s not just because they done it to Nintendo.I would have the same attitude if it was Sony. Furthermore I defended ubisoft in some instances, but in general Ubisoft attitude during the wii u area has been shameful and the excuse they have to pay the employee doesn’t justify what they did. And to prove that I am not blind I constantly repeated that Ubisoft is the only company in my view who may used the gamepad the most. I think ubisoft doesn’t know the meaning of the words ethical business. The above is my personal opinion and I stick to it. Hope you get a better understanding of it.

      3. What amano said. There is such a thing as business ethics that lists how a business can think about their employees & make money and NOT screw over a customer base. While they did the right thing from a purely business standpoint, from an ethical standpoint, they were in the wrong & people had the right to be “salty” about it. For example, you wouldn’t give a company a pass for using child labor because they have to make money & having a free workforce is the best way to make the most amount of money.

    2. Also need to take into account that Ubisoft was one of the first 3rd Party developers that even supported the Wii U at the start.

  2. Yeah, but they shouldn’t have to take a hit because Nintendo led such an odd campaign with the Wii U. I loved the system, but it was almost like Nintendo just wasn’t ready or confident enough to push it

      1. “this is the most substantial bit of info we’ve received in a while.” Quite pathetic if you ask me. They don’t want to reveal it too soon? Fine. At least tell us when you are revealing it. A scrap of information of any sort. Their silence is deafening.

        1. Haha, yeah, pretty sad when the most substantial bit of info is a comment from Ubisoft that the NX might be an improvement. We still don’t know any technical facts.

  3. Ubisoft….while I do commend you guys for claiming to be very excited for the NX, I at the same time hope that you guys are being very genuine about what you’re saying and not just spewing some fancy PR talk. If what you guys are saying is really coming from the heart then my anticipation level for the NX is at a all-time high. Nintendo really needs to unveil this system before I lose it lol

  4. My Hype just rose from a big dip of uncertainty. Oh Nintendo! I hope you make me beg for forgiveness for ever doubting you. Go Ninty! I want you, to be, the very best!

  5. I’ll believe it when I see it. I honestly don’t trust Ubisoft’s words about a Nintendo console any more than I do Nintendo’s words. I want to see fucking actions!

      1. If you have to ask that question, I don’t think you’ve been paying much attention to the lies people like Reggie have fed us over the last few years.

          1. He said 2015 & 2016 wouldn’t have droughts yet here we are. So if he never lies, then he’s a complete & total fucking dumbshit that doesn’t know what the hell is going on at the place he’s supposed to be a high ranking employee at & is only the CEO of NoA in title alone. So either way, he’s useless.

  6. With the PS4 Pro and Xbox One S models already revealed and specs pretty much set in stone, it should be time for Nintendo to feel comfortable revealing NX details… but Microsofts machine will come out around the same time as NX so maybe they are weary because Mucrosoft still as time to modify their slim model. I’ll just be like the Commander and blame “the Xbot filth” for our lack of official NX news ;)

    1. Nintendo First Order Commander Quadraxis

      ||We do not concern ourselves with their disgusting technology, only their demise to oblivion…||

  7. I got no beef with Ubisoft. I’ve enjoyed many of they’re games over the years on several systems.

I’m over all the rumor and waiting game though, whenever they say something, roll me over and turn me around.
