Charles Martinet’s Facebook Page Says He’s Now The “Former Mario” Voice

Charles Martinet‘s Facebook page is currently saying he no longer provides the voice for Mario. Under the intro tab on his page, he is described as “Former Mario at Nintendo” and “Former Mario at Gaming do Brasil.” This might be a Facebook-related issue, but we’re waiting to hear confirmation from Mr. Martinet himself.

      1. meh… It’s an okay impression. But if they got rid of the original voice actor why would anyone want to do an impersonation of charles instead of making a whole new voice?

maybe i should do an impression video cuz Im 100% positive i could do a WAAAAAYYY better impression plus wario and waluigi

            1. Yeah, I really hated the change to sonic’s voice.
Like, why did they do that!?
(Its actually one of the main reasons why I stopped playing sonic games. His voice is so cringy, and the actor sucks. Same with Ash and other characters from PKMN.)

      2. Pretty good imo.
I dont expect long sentences from future games, so I think you would do well if VFX are more quick paced and short (considering they dont really speak in too many games)

  1. NOOOO!!!!
I was hoping he would at least do it to the end of his days…
if not doing it for 20 years after he dies!
They can take a bunch of generic voice takes from him and use them for the next 20 years or so.

  2. I understand that there’s only so long you can do one thing before you get tired of it, but it seemed like he’s still been enjoying his job. I hope it’s an error, but if it’s not, then I hope that he just finally wanted a break from doing the same thing for so long, rather than being “kicked out” I guess.

    1. I checked the official page for the strike and didn’t find Nintendo’s name in the list of companies that the union is boycotting.

      Here’s the link: http://www.sagaftra.org/interactive

They also have a specific list of games that they’re boycotting against. Now I’m not necessarily saying that you’re wrong (in fact, your evidence is fairly strong), I’m just not convinced yet.

    2. Highly doubt it, to be honest. It may be a while until we see the effects of the strike on games. Plus Nintendo isn’t one of the companies that they’re striking against. It’s most likely just a coincidence that this has sprung up around the same time the strikes started.
Could be totally wrong, of course. I simply doubt the strikes have anything to do with this.

  3. +AR-Cade (MegaMarioFanatic) dude there are plenty of people who do can do an awesome Mario impression including me lots of people do it on youtube but only the right one though

  4. This is so sad. I knew this would happen one day, but I never imagined it to be this soon. 4 console generations.

  5. I think its a good move. Don’t get me wrong: He was the voice of Mario for long and therefor a part of our childhood memories and he always will be. But maybe slowly we see a change of voice acting work for Nintendo, that is not only relying on “itse meeee marioo” and random sounds. I mean there are rumours about an upcoming Mario movie and could you watch a full movie with his voice or better his Mario impression? Seriously, I would be annoyed. But you never know….

  6. Ok I just been on the page of Charles Martinet and this is not true facebook somehow thought he wasn’t working at Nintendo it wasn’t an announcement of any kind
“Howdi! I am still the voice of Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, Baby Mario and Baby Luigi! I think Facebook maybe changed something so I needed to put in “currently working” there. I hope I fixed it. Sorry for the concern! Have a fun day!!”

    1. I can see a meme brewing… Mario interrogating a koopaling in a dark cell with a bubble “Where’s the Bob-omb!!!”

  7. Hello! It’s me!!!! Charles Martinet..
I still have the great pleasure and joy of doing the voices of Mario, Luigi, Wario, Waluigi, Baby Luigi, Baby Mario, Metal Mario and more…..
I’m not sure how the Facebook status changed. I haven’t edited it until I read the concerns this morning (I’m in Spain on holiday). I clicked the button “currently working at”… and reworded things, so hopefully any confusion is gone.
Thank you for your concerns and I hope you have a wonderful day!

    1. If you are the real Charles, please tell Ashley and Reginald to stop spamming your personal profile, it has been annoying to see their posts.
