The United States will have many opportunities to try out the Nintendo Switch before it releases, as Nintendo plans on holding Switch events at various US cities. Well, now we know just what those cities will be. Venues and hours of operation are not known yet, but there is good news for those who didn’t receive a My Nintendo email invitation to see the Switch early. Each city will hold the Switch event for 3 days. Although Friday and Saturday are invite-only days, Sunday is open to the public and no registration is required. You don’t have to pay anything to enter, but entry will be a granted on a first-come basis. As for the cities themselves, we’ve included a list of the cities and event dates below.
- New York – January 13th-15th
- Washington, D.C. – February 10th-12th
- Chicago – February 17th-19th
- Los Angeles – February 24th-26th
- San Francisco – March 3rd-5th
Excellent. I figured they’d do a multi-city thing and yep, opening this to the public helps a lot in getting folks to understand what the Switch will be.
I will admit, it is strange that Houston is omitted from the list. Still, California has 9 large cities, and is also the most heavily populated state in the USA. This is the reason the same event is often held in multiple places throughout California.
I thought the same thing. Houston is one of the largest cities in the US but Cali gets 2 events?
I replied to the wrong person. Thought it makes no difference.
I live right in new jersey right nextdoor to the city but what place will the nintendo switch be held in new york city i feel like it will be at nintendo new york who knows. let us know if anything comes up.
San Francisco is still California, why do they keep forgetting Houston!!!
Houston!!
FINALLY, something I want to go to and it’s a stone’s throw away, in Chicago. I think I’ll need to request off work for one of those days.
Dang, no Lehi
If I do get an email, I’d have to go ro Chicago.
Really.
This is PERFECTION!!! Now people don’t have to wait for march to play it. They can just play it and try it out before the release.
Nice, get em’.
CURSES!! WHY DO I HAVE TO LIVE IN HOUSON TEXAS?! DONT WORRY ABOUT GIVING US A DEMO! WE ONLY HAVE A POPULATION OF OVER 4 MILLION PEOPLE!!
I thought you lived in Gotham, New York
*Gotham City, New Jersey apparently after looking into it..
Shhhhhh! Dont point these things out man!
Haha yep cause f*** Iowa haha yep nooooobody wants tro try the switch there haha
(Replace Iowa if needed)
“The United States will have many opportunities to try out the Nintendo Switch before it releases…” Great :)
*scrolls down to see only 5 cities, not one of which is anywhere near Florida*
… That’s a small fucking list for “many opportunities,” fucking liars.
/sarcasm
I already knew New York would definitely be one of the cities hosting a Switch event since the World Store is located there but I really wish Texas would get some love. Nonetheless I’m looking forward to the Presentation….hopefully it will be an epic one
What about San Diego?
What about the entire SouthEast? Nashville or Atlanta would be cool !
No Seattle event with Nintendo in Washington… makes no sense.
Well, well, well. Look at that. None of them are even remotely near where I live. I can always count on Nintendo to be everywhere that I’ll never be. Not that I care. But seriously though, who cares about just PLAYING the Switch? I want to OWN the Switch. I really need one bad, because my old light switch just isn’t making me happy. LOL!
Aww why is San Francisco last :( I’m so impatient!!! I’m so excited for the Switch and just everything Nintendo’s going to be throwing at us 😍!!!
I went to the 3DS event all those years ago, going to this one, too!!
SF here ^_^
European here… :/
Washington population 650K
Toronto population 2.6Million
I guess we get the same marketing team as the WiiU again. Oh well.
Washington DC may have a city population of 650k but the DC metro area itself has a population of about 5 million and includes parts of the states of Maryland and Virginia. Most of the metro population live within a 20-25 mile radius of DC itself. For example, I live in Maryland and I live 8 miles from the White House in DC. Now with that said, i’m surprised Toronto didn’t get picked to host an event.
One in Helsinki, please!

Ugh. NOTHING ever comes to Nashville. We’ve only got like 600,000 but still, SOMETHING for the southern regions.
As a Wii U supporter from day 1. It wouldve been nice to get a thanks from nintendo in the form of allowing us try out the switch .
Wow this is awesome I haven’t been this excited about a reveal since the SNES and Gamecube. Im from NYC ans hope I get an invite to this event.
