Nickelodeon’s Animated Series Could Be Based On Castlevania

You may remember that a rumour was doing the rounds a few weeks ago regarding Nickelodeon creating a cartoon based on one of the most world-famous video games of the last 30 years. Many assumed that this would be a Nintendo franchise with the Kyoto based company eager to expand to new areas. However, it sounds as though the project is a cartoon based on the legendary Castlevania franchise and is being produced by the talented individual behind the hit cartoon Adventure Time. Hopefully all will be revealed soon.

  1. This cartoon will be avoided due to it being owned by Konami. Nickelodeon must really want to piss off gamers if they go through with this. I’ll probably watch it though, but I can’t speak for everyone else who have a pure hatred, that now course through their veins as their life force, for Konami.

  3. Didnt pendleton ward produce adventure time? I think frederator maybe teased something to nick but as we all know ats on CN so that went well obviously.
Where would anything violent fit into nickelodeon as well?

  4. So Pendleton ward is doing this Castlevania series?. Yeah I know it’s hard for him to make a choice for him to end adventure time in 2018 but I still enjoy that show no matter what. It’s one of my favorites.

    1. Additional part of his comment (for those who can’t listen atm): It’s based on a beloved video game property that’s been around for roughly 30 years now.

  5. Ridley 4 Smash Switch X3 (Dragon Ball Super & the Buu Saga of Dragon Ball Z Kai both air 1/7/17 on ! Yay!)

Castlevania, an M rated franchise, as a Nickelodeon cartoon?

    1. However I feel about current Nickelodeon (outside of the current Ninja Turtles & Loud House), my trust in Fred Seibert to put all the right people in the room (as he put it in the above podcast) wins out when it comes to my expectations. As of now I consider it Innocent Until Proven Guilty.

  6. I don’t keep up with video games, but I do keep up with animation. As another commenter mentioned, Fred Seibert mentioned a video game cartoon in his episode of the Nick Animation Podcast. But he didn’t say anything about Nick. I’m not saying they’re definitely not involved, but Fred was most likely only referring to his own studio. If I were to make a guess as to how word of Nick being involved got around, I would say it’s ether because of Frederator’s long history with Nick, because Fred said it on the Nick Animation Podcast, or both. Frederator has been making more shows for online platforms in recent years, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s where the show ends up going.
