Super Mario Odyssey Will Feature At This Year’s E3 Event In June

Sadly the super-fun Super Mario Odyssey wasn’t playable at the event we attended on Friday and was only shown on a large video screen. However, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has confirmed to IGN that Super Mario Odyssey will be a huge part of Nintendo’s E3 2017 presentation which makes a lot of sense given the game is out this fall on the Nintendo Switch.

“The only decision that was made from an E3 consideration standpoint was ‘do we show Super Mario Odyssey from a hands-on perspective today versus E3?’ And we’re going to show it at E3,” Fils-Aime told IGN. “But at least from a Nintendo perspective, there’s no other consideration that is driven by E3.”

      1. There’s no way that’s a viable option for Ninty- in June, the Switch will have only been out for three months, with only a few of the games announced having been released up to that point. They’ve definitely saved a few announcements for E3 (hopefully a new F-Zero is one of them).

        1. Let’s hope you’re right. We can’t keep playing this “wait till E3, wait till the next direct, wait till this game conference” game. If E3 doesn’t come strong, switch is gonna struggle really hard.

    1. Yeah, which is a little troublesome. The pre-2017 silence made me think that they had planned a pretty big library of launch window games, and then the event made me think that surely E3 was where all the surprises would come in but maybe it’ll just be a smaller library this year and most of the things we expected or hoped for aren’t ready yet. That said what has Retro been doing all these years? And the very probable Smash port? There have to be some more heavy hitters showing up at E3…

      1. I honestly believe there has to be a HUGE amount of games we are missing.
We’ve only seen games from the mario team, zelda team, and who ever is developing arms and 1, 2 switch.
Mario kart team has to be working on something else ( 2 years to make one battle mode and 3 characters? no new tracks either? They must be working on more ).
Missing Intelligence systems, HAL, Retro, Next level games must have something soon, Probably not the animal crossing team for a while as they just made the animal crossing update as well as making splatoon 2.
        Sakurai and project sora’s project.
Software Development Group No. 4 haven’t made a game since mario maker, they also make pikmin so maybe pikmin 4 eventually.
Production Group No. 4 hasn’t made a game since 2013, which was mario party island tour and was co produced by Nd Cube.
Production Group No. 1 last game was rhythm heaven mega mix in 2015 and game and wario in 2013.
These production companies must have something in development!!
        I’m expecting a blow out E3

          1. Well if the main course doesn’t show up soon, a lot of people are going to go to another restaurant cause honestly they’ve had plenty of time to have games ready, and it’s really not cool to keep so many secret. Normally nintendo does that and it’s fun, but not when you’ve have a couple of years of droughts and disappointments, and have no confidence that the company actually has anything up their sleeve besides amiibo. This is not the time to keep secrets, it’s time to make a big splash and get people excited. People were hyped before the presentation, now many are disappointed.

    2. We still have whatever Retro’s working on plus if there’s any other surprises. Hopefully third party to get people who aren’t hardcore Nintendo fans to jump on board.

    1. If we have to wait for a new one I’d glade take Metroid Prime Trilogy HD in the short term :)

HD rumble with the charge beam? Yes please.

Oh my god yes! Now I really want to know how a charge beam will feel! It’d be even more awesome if each type of charge beam had a different feel to it.

  1. Why is everyone in here are so dense about E3? We understand now that Super Mario Odyssey will be at the show this June… but this is only the beginning from Nintendo. There’s still more to come so have some patience for once!

    1. That’s cause they have been hyping this thing up for so long, and have had no games pretty much for two years, and they have nothing to show. The initial reveal showed a little, but not enough, so we waited for January 12. It still wasn’t enough. 2 years and all they have is a game that should have come out already, a port of MK 8, and splatoon for the launch window. And 3rd party isn’t very exciting either. Have patience for ONCE? We HAVE been patient for 2 years. What have they been doing all this time we’ve had droughts if not preparing a stellar lineup of games for the new console? Stop being a fanboy and calling people blind cause they are tired of BS.

  2. Wonder if this is where that Samurai Mario costume will make it’s appearance. Yeah…the world seemed to have forgotten about that.

  3. I’m expecting to see Pikmin 4 at this year’s E3. I BETTER SEE IT! I heard several months ago that it was near complete. And yes, it was Pikmin 4 that Miyamoto was talking about. Not the 3DS Pikmin. It would also be awesome if they announce a new Animal Crossing for Switch.

And whenever Mario Party 11 comes out, I hope it goes back to it’s roots and stops sucking. Which means, throw out that dumbass car concept, put regular stars instead of mini stars, allow each mini game to have the option of turning on or off (and not just groups of mini games), and make wins based on skill instead of luck. It’s absolutely no fun whatsoever when wins are luck based.

      1. Good memory. Yes, that’s true. But I used to LOVE Mario Party back when I played games with my brother and sister etc. But life took dramatic turns, and now I play everything alone. Which is NOT fun with games like Mario Party (the computer sucks so bad). But I still buy every Mario Party game. I’m always hoping that some day I’ll have someone else to play with again.

Maybe when they finally think of online… Oh wait… You won’t be paying for online. Nevermind!

What? That’s a feature in the latest Mario Party games!? That’s… utterly, fucking horrible!

        1. No actually I remember that from the first three haha. I haven’t played the new ones. I actually bought the wii u one, and can’t remember if I ever played, my friends and I kept talking about it, not sure if we ever did lol. It was only once if so.

*thinks* Oh yeah! I remember now! It’s been so long since I’ve played any Mario Party game.

            1. Same here haha I owned 1 & 3, and played 2 at my friends house back in the day, who is now one of my roomates I was mentioning that got the masters edition. I can’t remember if I played 4 or not, but the rest I never played except one time I played one of the wii ones with a friend’s little brother, and don’t remember it being anything special, that was back in 06 or 07.

Remember when we discussed it was only a matter of time before fanboys started reacting to my disgruntled comments? lol Well it’s finally happening in that article about grip coming with the Switch is not a charging grip.

                  1. Omega King Kalas Ridley X3 (Greatness Awaits at Nintendo Switch & Sony PlayStation 4! Come join us in the Light of Darkness!!)

I think I got someone on the fence with the Switch on my case now, too. Apparently none of these issues matter to me since I’ve got the console preordered. Such a silly thing to say. Just because it’s not a deal breaker doesn’t make it any less an issue. Besides, I’m giving the console strikes. They’re at 2 right now. If that number hits 3, all three strikes will turn into a deal breaker & BOOM!! Canceled preorder.

              2. Omega King Kalas Ridley X3 (Greatness Awaits at Nintendo Switch & Sony PlayStation 4! Come join us in the Light of Darkness!!)

I fucking love it when someone tells someone to “get a life!” The ones that usually do that are the ones that usually need to get a life! lol

  5. Guys jokes aside The Switch is Dead on Arrival and i’ll tell you why

1: All the issues that led to the Wii U’s Failure havent been fixed.

2: Lack Of 3rd party games that are found on PS4 and Xbox1 (no 3rd party support.)

    3: Overpriced

4: Too Weak and Underpowered to Run 3rd party Games, whats worse is its even Now too underpowered to even run Nintendos own games (eg Zelda BOTW) with its Framerate issues

5: Once again Cheap Nintendo is selling outdated old last gen tech for even a higher price then current 8th gen consoles like PS4.

6:Still using uneccessary Gimmicks to sl thier product. (JoyCons and HD rumble)

7: Still not sure who thier target market is Casuals or Real Gamers

    8.Poor Battery life

    9.Poor Launch Games.

    10. Still ignoring fans and releasing games they didnt ask for (No Metroid,No F-Zero)

All of the above issues are what made WiiU Fail and will likewise make Wii U Fail.
