UK: Online Videogames Retailer Honouring Low Nintendo Switch Price

It’s no secret that the price for the Nintendo Switch was a surprise to many – all it takes is one look at the comments section on Nintendo’s social media accounts to get the feeling that the public are not best pleased. However, Gameseek.co.uk accepted a bunch of pre-orders for the Switch at a mere £198.50 which is £81.49 less than the confirmed UK RRP for the console.

We reported 2 months ago that they were taking pre-orders at the low price but now we know for sure how much the console’s RRP is, honouring the sub £200 price tag is certainly surprising.

Having used the website myself for some purchases (Nintendo Switch not included, unfortunately) I can confirm that almost all of their prices are well below that of many other retailers. The only downside being is that they take the full amount of money straight away.

          1. Lucky haha Europe gets way better music and festivals than the US. The best DJs come from Europe by far imo. You happen to listen to the Anjunadeep or Anjunabeats labels? Above & Beyond started them if you’ve heard of them.

            1. Yep yep, I listen to Group Therapy a lot – listening to it right now actually. Big fan of Ajunadeep and Ajunabeats too. Gotta love a bit of techno, house and everything inbetween eh?

              1. That’s awesome haha. I wish I could have gone to The 200 session in Amersterdam, I would have lost it. Wait March is coming up which means Anjuna Miami is coming up! March is gonna be awesome haha.

                1. Argh! I’m right there with you man, I’ve watched it on Youtube countless times <3 Hahah March is gonna be awesome, you're correct :)

    1. I was skeptical at first but they are really decent. I like to shop at GAME to get points with trade-ins but online seems to be the way :)

  1. Guys jokes aside The Switch is Dead on Arrival and i’ll tell you why

1: All the issues that led to the Wii U’s Failure havent been fixed.

2: Lack Of 3rd party games that are found on PS4 and Xbox1 (no 3rd party support.)

    3: Overpriced

4: Too Weak and Underpowered to Run 3rd party Games, whats worse is its even Now too underpowered to even run Nintendos own games (eg Zelda BOTW) with its Framerate issues

5: Once again Cheap Nintendo is selling outdated old last gen tech for even a higher price then current 8th gen consoles like PS4.

6:Still using uneccessary Gimmicks to sl thier product. (JoyCons and HD rumble)

7: Still not sure who thier target market is Casuals or Real Gamers

    8.Poor Battery life

    9.Poor Launch Games.

    10. Still ignoring fans and releasing games they didnt ask for (No Metroid,No F-Zero)

All of the above issues are what made WiiU Fail and will likewise make The Switch Fail.

    1. 100%, right now the Switch is already dead… BUT, lets see how the state of this console will change in 2018.
Hey, this years E3 is essential for Nintendo

    2. You could be right, but a consoles launch does not determine its total lifetime sales. Microsoft did a complete 180 and turned the Xbox one around. It was also DOA if you remember. They have time to turn things around. A price drop and if they are forced to they could drop online pay.

Right now the Switch is not looking good, but Nintendo has a chance to turn it around. Whether or not they will is yet to be seen… I think if the Switch has horrible sales numbers they will be forced to take drastic measures, since they cannot afford a flop console two years in a row…

      1. You’re totally right. Microsoft did it with X1, and Nintendo did it with the 3DS, and both have turned around to be great! (the 3DS came out of the grave, only to be a gaming Titan.)
So yep. Totally doable like you said!

    3. 1. Some issues have been fixed, like the naming.
      2. Agree.
      3. Disagree. The price is ok.
      4. Agree. It shocked me that it can’t even run BOTW in 1080p. This tells us that it’s just a little more powerful than a Wii U.
      5. Disagree. The technology is up-to-date.
      6. Disagree. Controllers and rumble are no gimmicks. They are standard.
      7. Nintendo doesn’t know either.
      8. Disagree. A battery life of minimum 2.5 hours is good.
      9. Agree.
      10. Agree.

    4. I think we need a lot more information before we can call it “Dead on Arrival.” – I have healthy concerns myself, but I don’t think we know near enough to consider it DOA.

And I’m sure it will do amazing in Japan. Where people can use the whole, “Let’s all play local!” Also, we don’t know just how many technical advantages using carts may offer.
Does it need less RAM because it doesn’t need to load? Can it afford less CPU bus? Basically, we don’t know how much Nintendo could afford to skimp on hardware due to not needing to pull media off an optical disc.

I agree it is probably not going to pull gamers from their current systems, and I agree it might not go gangbusters over WiiU sales, but when I hear “Dead on Arrival,” I think of PS Vita. (Sorry Vita fans, I know you’re there)

Also, this must be what it’s like to read my comments… now I feel bad. X.x Lol.

    1. It’s down to the retailer how much they sell them for, Nintendo still get the same amount from the retailer regardless. Crazy, I know.

    2. Retailers can sell their goods at a loss. Sometimes to bring buyers in. Maybe they think selling hardware close or below cost will cause gamers to buy their games and accessories from them also.

This is why I’m waiting until Holiday 2017/2018. I’m almost positive retailers will all be selling it at a loss or bundling games with it. There is no reason to pay early adopter pricing, unless you want to get the jump on Splatoon because you’re hardcore into that game or just absolutely can’t wait to play the new Mario…wait..that’s in the fall… well, IDK what games you’ll have at launch, but you know what I mean. XD

      1. Zelda (I know it’s on U, but I just can’t play an inferior game haha, also I had to have that Masters Edition, which I don’t think was offered for the U, which is a disgrace actually lol), and Bomberman are the main reasons I am probably early adopting. Also Yooka Laylee, whenever they announce it. Just gotta switch my kickstarter preorder to switch ;)

  2. For those not familiar with Gameseek, they are a terrible retailer. I’d rather have a full price pre-order elsewhere and not risk a cancellation because they’ve exceeded their allowance (which they opened up about 8 weeks ago).

    1. Gamestop in the US is just as bad. I’ve lost two pre-orders but sometimes they have exclusive deals. I’m not worried about Switch Inventory tho. Didn’t Nintendo said they had it covered? Sure it will be sold out for a couple months, but who cares? Don’t feed the scalpers and wait to pay fair prices.

      1. I don’t think scalpers will fare as well as with wii, other any other console launch in recent history, due to it not being holiday season, so parents don’t HAVE to buy a switch to get it for their kids since christmas/hanukah just passed.

  3. It does play zelda botw in 1080p 60fps on the TV and 720p 60fps in handheld mode. Don’t you people listen to anything Nintendo said?

    1. It’s been reported by numerous sources that it’s actually only 900p and 30fps despite what the nintendo website says. I wish I could say I trust nintendos, site, but I don’t trust them at all anymore and am leaning more towards nintendo lying to hype up the game. I seriously hope I am wrong though cause 60fps is so sexy, and zelda deserves it.

      1. The demo they were all playing was 900p/30 docked, that is true.
But that doesn’t necessarily mean the full version won’t be 1080p.
As for 30 fps, I’m pretty sure the only modern Zelda to have any more is ALBW (and Tri-Force Heroes).
Sexy as sixty is I was fine with thirty in WW, TP and SS. I can live with thirty in BotW (while I dream of 60)

        1. I’m hoping you’re right about that. I’m dreaming of 60 too (obviously haha). I know ALBW is the first but it’s on 3ds so that’s even more reason why it would be nice to see it on the switch game. We shall see soon enough lol.
