It Doesn’t Seem Like Borderlands 3 On Nintendo Switch Will Happen

One of the big new titles in development for current generation platforms is Borderlands 3. While Battleborn may have been a commercial flop many are looking forward to the next entry to the Borderlands series. However, developer Randy Pitchford said that it’s unlikely to arrive on the Nintendo Switch. The developer was previously talking to Nintendo about the opportunity to bring it to the platform but talks stopped for whatever reason.

  1. … THANK GOD!
I’m sorry but you can only hear so many horrible meme filled jokes to the point were they become toxic and horrible.

Borderlands was good… until the Nostalgia wears off and you realize that other open world RPG-FPS games have done a much better job. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided is one.

      1. Or he just believes it. I personally find those games really boring and broken. Ive played with higher leveled buddies and they level me up rather quickly, and then the game just seems rediculously easy because of the weapons that they drop. I honestly dont get the praise. It was fine at first, but B2 was more of the same and got boring really fast. Now unless B3 changes drastically, itll probably just be another boring, broken, DLC infested game to me. No losses here.

        Also, fuck Randy Pitchford.

        1. that maybe so but you have to think of the others in this problem. If it came (insert NC’s comment here), the so called xbots will change over to nintendo…and that includes all console gamers such as myself. My brother is a borderlands fan and I think he’s been waiting to see part 3. So yeah don’t think of yourself on this, think of the others that want mario too with a game they like…”have a cake and can eat it too” is the motto.

          1. Hm, might be my bias talking then. I really dont like this guy and want nothing to do with him. I rather not see any Nintendo fan give this man any money, but you are right. A B3 port COULD sway people to get it on the switch. Although the amount of people that will drop their PS4 or XBO to get a switch for this game is surely in the minority.

        2. Based on what you said, I will probably not pick up borderlands, unless it’s a cheap bargain bin situation. I’m less worried Borderlands is coming to Switch and more worried that it’s the first of many.

Granted, I’m not DESPERATELY worried, since I have a 3rd party machine now, but I would be ecstatic to see games developed with all the DLC for a Nintendo Console again. PS and XB gamers are pretty well rooted in their boxes, and Nintendo lost a lot of gamers in the WiiU era. Many of us couldn’t take it anymore, missing out on games due to a misplaced sense of loyalty that isn’t reciprocated.

Still, If gamers COULD play Nintendo IPs and 3rd party games on the same machine, I think they would come back to Nintendo. There are a lot of gamers who love Nintendo, but will never go back to being locked in a room with Mario, Yoshi and nothing but family-friendly games.

            1. Literally amazing. One of the best games I’ve played in the last decade. I will even rank them…
              Borderlands 1 – 9/10
              Borderlands 2 – 7/10
              Borderlands The Pre-Sequel – 10/10
Tales from the Borderlands – 11/10

                1. I think most people agree with you about the Pre-Sequel. For me it was amazing due to low gravity and laser guns. Also despite having only two DLC, I think the Claptrap DLC is just insanely cool.

            2. Gaww. OK, we’ll, I can get…I think all 3 for $30. So maybe I’ll give it a spin! Looks like it has a polarized audience though!

  2. Come on, Nintendo, you need the 3rd party support! It is clear that it would’ve happened if you could just pull your head out of your ass!

              1. Hahah, so I’m a hater for realizing that at the moment, there is a serious problem with the software lineup of the Switch, the lack of good 3rd-party games in particular? Please, don’t tell me you are actually okay with the games we currently know of, especially the terrible launch lineup. Just please do not.

              2. Are we really going to try to say that those 80+ games are all going to be tripple A or at the very least from well respected Developers?

You know damn well that at least a few of those are going to be from new developers. Like that letter game on the Wii U or those other little turds like the meme game. As long as more than half of those 80 are from bigger devs, it should be fine.

              3. And don’t forget Jaded Nintendo fans who went through two consoles and nearly two decades of Nintendo killing off third party support, watering down their own IPs and are worried and frustrated that they might be doing it all over again.

It’s not black and white anymore, not with more and more Nintendo fans waking up from the Matrix and seeing what they have been missing out on while under Ninty’s Nostalgic control.

We Defend Nintendo against Nintendo haters, and we fight for Ninty fans who don’t want our help, but we refuse to let Nintendo take advantage of them, even if they currently don’t see it.

            1. Hmm, as far as that one “developers that are working on Switch games”-banner from the presentation can be considered as proof, as there were developers on it which aren’t very widely known, as far as I am aware. But other than that, nope, I do not, but that’s why I said “most likely” in my previous comment. :)

                    1. Omega King Kalas Ridley X3 (Greatness Awaits at Nintendo Switch & Sony PlayStation 4! Come join us in the Light of Darkness!!)

It’s Nintendo so you can be sure they are gonna fuck up somewhere. Oh right. They already did. No Miiverse, no better replacement for Miiverse, 32gb internal storage, external HDDs are not allowed to be used right now, no charging grip inside the Switch package that can easily replace the useless grip with no charging ability, apparently need a damn smartphone to use the chat feature… Ugh! Well good thing I can always cancel my preorder if all of the bad news ruins my hype. Unless GameStop canceling online preorders starts to effect those at the retail stores, too, and mine is already canned. Part of me will be pissed but another part will think of it as a blessing in disguise. ESPECIALLY if the bad news continues.

      1. Out of the 80+ games how many of them are the ones we’re actually anticipating/hoping for (i.e. Red Dead, Ghost Recon, Call of Duty, Battlefront 2, Tekken, Injustice…)? How many of them are indie titles?

        *nothing wrong with indie games

    1. Omega King Kalas Ridley X3 (Greatness Awaits at Nintendo Switch & Sony PlayStation 4! Come join us in the Light of Darkness!!)

o.O Which Aliens? Please say Colonial Marines!

    2. Omega King Kalas Ridley X3 (Greatness Awaits at Nintendo Switch & Sony PlayStation 4! Come join us in the Light of Darkness!!)

      NEVERMIND!!! lol

  3. As much as I dislike Borderlands, I’m starting to see signs of the Wii U over again. Judging from that tweet, Nintendo hasn’t seem to learn the importance of third-party.

    1. Well if Borderlands is successful I think they’ll eventually just port it everywhere. I guess they don’t want to risk anything because Gearbox has been a 1 hit wonder.

Although they need the third party so this is a dilemma…

      1. “eventually” the thing that plagued WiiU, and WiiU owners (most) refused to support because they were not included in the first run.

          1. When does Mario Odyssey release? Is that summer or fall? Because Switch stole Zelda from WiiU owners. That was our big Zelda title and it s getting shared with Switch so switch doesn’t immediately fail, which it would without ZeldaU saving it’s ass.

So it has one WiiU port, Splatoon 2 and a Mario at some point. Definitely better than WiiUs first year, but it really couldn’t be any worse. Nintendo needs to stop getting by with ‘just enough’ – they need to get the train completely back on track, and that means getting 3rd party back.

            1. No. Breath of the wild was a Wii u game, most likely ported to Nintendo Switch because the Wii u runs botw about as good as good as I can run a 10k. A decision was made to release it on the Wii u to loyal fans.

      1. Of all the hype and all the bitching, that’s none thing I’m surprised I haven’t heard yet. (that Nintendo is “Doomed”)

At least everyone has realized how silly that is, and it’s not a matter of Nintendo’s survival, rather a fight for where they are going and who they will become in the next 5-10 years.

    2. In short, they probably wanted money from Nintendo, and everyone still remembers what they did with Sega’s money.
I wouldn’t trust a dollar in this guys hands.

  4. Is probably because of what they did with the Alien Colonial Marines game, imagine Nintendo funding the Switch port but GB pulls the Alien scam all over again, and spend the money on another project. And we end up with nothing or in the best case scenario we get a lame ass port of Borderlands 3.

BTW, those games suck, i don’t get why so many people love to play them.. i prefer a FO4 port TBH.

  5. It’s obviously good for Nintendo to have as many developers as possible working on their console, but I would never trust Switchbox with anything after that Alien colonial marines story.

  6. These guys really only have one game, the rest is really meh. Battleborn kinda has put them in a ruff place

  7. I think borderlands is a decent game. I wish it would have a good story then it would be great. But I didn’t expect this to make it to the switch either way. Switch needs the casual games like cod, battlefield, 2k, FIFA. I don’t play any of those but those are the games most ppl buy in the West. So it would help out. Nintendo is solely focused on Japan as of this moment however which is why they make the decisions they do

  8. I still haven’t finished 2nd one, did not even know there was going to be 3rd.
1st was fun and all, but I just got way too bored with 2nd.

  9. Hmm. Bad move, Nintendo. Personally, I’ve not played much of the series, but I do know it is a very popular game series. Considering its a multiplayer game, I find this odd that Nintendo wouldn’t let this come over to the Switch due to its focus on local multiplayer.

  10. I think this is Nintendo’s fault. Hope this game see the release on Switch. Imagine…8 players session. :)
    C’mon Nintendo!

  11. The switch is looking to be another wii u at this point. No mass effect Andromeda, no red dead redemption 2, no borderlands 3, etc… Of course all of this could be subject to change and I’m still getting the switch for zelda. But this isn’t looking good for the switch from a sales point of view and sales matter to third parties.

    1. What if Zelda was only releasing on WiiU like it was originally slated to? Would you get the switch for Splatoon and a good Mario game 6 months later?

        1. If you feel that way for a good Mario, then I wish you the very best in securing a switch! I’m sure there are tons of people just like you and that’s probably why the 2 million initial shipments are selling so fast! That’s why I was asking, and that answers my question! ;D

            1. Right. And so there is no confusion, I’m getting one also. I’m just not paying early adopter prices until there are games out that I have an interest in playing to justify the upgrade. ;)

      1. Omega King Kalas Ridley X3 (Greatness Awaits at Nintendo Switch & Sony PlayStation 4! Come join us in the Light of Darkness!!)

If Switch wasn’t getting BotW, I’d definitely had waited til sometime next year.

  12. Fucking knew it, if the first party line-up doesn’t fatten up significantly, I won’t be picking the switch up at all and I’ll happily wait for Nintendo to get their shit straight. I can’t depend on any quality game library for this thing unless if Nintendo is going to provide it. Bye bye 3rd party support, hello Wii U 2

    1. Too many people are fine with a WiiU library, so it will be far from DOA. You mayaswell say Nintendo is Doomed. It sounds just as silly, but at least the rest of us can have a laugh. :]

  13. People are quick to jump and assume it is all Nintendo’s fault. That Randy could be twisting it to sound like Nintendo is at fault. It’s better to be unbiased towards a situation you know little about except hearsay. Many of you guy would do horrible as jurors.

Additionally, this doesn’t mean there’s going to be a repeat of the Wii U. They already said Mass Effect Andromeda could be ported to the Switch if it sells well. There are many triple-A third party devs with this in mind. They care most about the money and if their game would sell well. The Switch is easy to port to unlikely the Wii U so stop being so overdramatic over one Tweet.

  14. Omega King Kalas Ridley X3 (Greatness Awaits at Nintendo Switch & Sony PlayStation 4! Come join us in the Light of Darkness!!)

Meh… Sucks for 3rd party support, though. Good thing I have the PS4 for if the Switch becomes Wii U 2.0.
