I’ve been so pissed off with Android that I had considered to get an iPhone as soon as I could. But then I remembered that move would drain all the money I don’t have…

They suck. That’s what. My last phone was android. The performance was awful.
That is like saying Windows suck because my last PC performance was awful. Android is software. It is up to the hardware maker whether a phone performance is good or not.
I know that, but every problem I had with the phone, with exception to a couple hardware hiccups, was related to the OS.
Was that your first Android base phone? Did you look up your phone issues to see if others have the same issue? I’ve had many different phones as I use to work at a cell phone provider. They all crap to me. We use to take a different phone with us everyday or keep a phone for a week so we knew all the phones instead and out. They all have their issue.
It was my first android phone, a galaxy S5. The one I had before that was an iphone and my current one is an iphone. I always look up any issues I have with tech. All the problems I had were shared by other people, but the general consensus I gathered was that the problems were not shared by a majority of people and either didn’t have any specific fix to them or possibly weren’t addressed because not many people experienced them.
What I know for certain is that I never experienced any issues with ios on my first phone, which is why I switched back to iphone, and I haven’t had any issues since. There are a few features that I think are done much better on samsung, but I prefer a smooth, stable experience to extra features.
The problem lies within it being a Samsung phone, I’d say. Despite their popularity, they’re really not that good, in my opinion. I’ve used 3 Samsung smartphones so far: The S1, S3 and now S7. The S1 was fine, from what I can remember of it, with the S3 I wasn’t so happy with, so I switched to Sony after that and used the Z2 for a couple years; was a great phone I don’t remember having any issues with. After that, I switched to my current phone, the S7, and I definitely do regret the decision, hah. I can already tell that I won’t be going for another Samsung after this one, and I’m hoping for Sony to not leave the smartphone business anytime soon, so I can get another Xperia in year or two, because their phones are actually pretty decent, in my personal view.
That wouldn’t surprise me really. As I said, I had a couple of hardware problems as well. The other problems seemed like they were directly related to the os though: apps closing randomly, the phone freezing while I typed, etc. I suppose it could be that Samsung just did a poor job of implementing the os though.
Yea, I’d also assume that the issues are on Samsung’s part, bad optimization with the OS probably. In comparison, you won’t see similar performance issues on iPhones, simply because the OS is tailored for the phones, just like the phones are tailored for the OS. They might be overpriced for what the raw hardware offers, but it’s safe to expect a smooth and reliable performance from them.
Yeah I was just thinking the same thing about the Pixel. I would expect it to implement the Android os much better than any other phone.
They’ve been specializing in memory-and battery-consuming OS design. My 7 months old cell phone autonomy is now no longer than 12 hours, and that’s I just receive and make calls. I sporadically use Viber. That’s all.
Can’t blame Android in general for that though. I’ve been using Android for what, 7 years now, I think? And I’ve never had issues with the battery of any of the phones I’ve used draining too fast. Using an S7 now, and I browse the internet for about two hours daily probably, spread throughout the day of course, plus some texting and calling, and I’m usually left with 40-60% at the end of the day. I’m sure it would last for over two days if I cut back on the internet browsing even just a bit. But I have other issues with it – issues I haven’t had with my previous Sony phone though, for example.
So really can’t generalize it like that, it does come down to what the hardware company makes out of it, there’s pretty big differences between products depending on their brand, even if they’re all Android based.

Unreliable is a good way to put it, hah. Stutters and lags happen way more often than they should, and it’s just really annoying. The performance slows down really fast over time, I feel. Unreliable, as you’ve said. :p

Yeah, I’m aware of that. The performance of Android-based phones relies almost 100% on the hardware indeed. However, in the case of iPhones, we have an iOS that is intended to run on Apple’s proprietary hardware. This creates a much better environment. iPhoes are very sleek,and I like that.
I’ve had, so far, four Android phones — Samsung (S2), LG (Nexus 5), Alcatel (One Touch) and now a Zenfone (ASUS). All of them had issues with both memory and battery. For isntance, my Zenfone is always complaining about lack of memory, and the baterry has been giving me juice for around 10 hours >idle<. Believe me, I've tried to do all I could to meliorate its performance. This is so frustrating. Even installing apps to fix memory issues, I miserably failed to extend phone's battery life. As I said, I only use Viber to communicate with my girlfriend, and make and receive calls. Ah, I rarely use Google Maps too. But I don't surf on the internet, nor watch videos and stuff like that.
If there is one thing that I’m learning from this topic you guys are discussing, it’s that I should NEVER buy a ton of Samsung products.

Hey guys leave Shu alone.. He’s a pretty cool guy and most likely will buy a couple of Switch consoles. Sure Sony will probabably steal the most successful aspects of Switch (my money’s on the HD rumble for Dual Shock 5) but who doesn’t steal most of Nintendos “gimmicks” and use them and call them “features” these days ? 😅

Of course he’d be there! He is a Nintendo fan, after all! As for stealing ideas, he doesn’t have to go to a silly presentation to do that as he could have just done that at home while watching the presentation on his Wii U or PS4 using the internet browser. Some of you guys are so paranoid. >.<

I’m sure the same can be said for me haha. I remember being against people like iceazama or however you spell it a number of years back but by the time mk 8 had come out we were friends on here and played each other online a few times and talked on miiverse when he wasn’t blocked haha.
Now that it’s region free, he doesn’t have to buy two! :p
