Xbox boss Phil Spencer has never hidden his love and respect for all things Nintendo. Spencer who fields a lot of fan questions on Twitter was asked what he thought of the Nintendo Switch games that were showcased during the presentation on Thursday evening and he seems enthused by the console in the short tweet provided below.
Mario looked new/fresh. Zelda should be great. Hybrid console, will be fun to see what new game ideas come from that.

To be fair, Sony is always looking at Nintendos doing. Whether you want to call it “admiring,” “respecting,” “acknowledging,” or (i personally believe this is the one) to try to copy what Nintendo is doing. He was there for a reason, whether that reason was beneficial to him, is another story.

Internet wasn’t big in the 90s, and most gamers were younger. How would any of us even known of any of the words they said about each other really? Maybe in some commercials they would poke fun, but that’s about it. Nobody in the 90s cared about who had a sega or nintendo, kids just wanted to play on either, and most of the time it seems one friend on the block would have one and another friend would have the other and they would play at each other’s houses. There were no fanboy wars till I’d say the gamecube, ps2, xbox gen.
Partially true. I’m 37 and remember having constant arguments with a sega kid. In the end he folded when sf2 came out. Much better controls on the snes so I gave in and got his parents to buy him one😊
Word I’m almost 33, my friends and I never argued or anyone I knew in school, but I’m sure if happened lol. But I would be willing to bet it’s far more common these days. Are you getting the new SFII? I think I may. It was definitely one of the best games (and turbo of course) on SNES. And in the arcades before SNES too I loved that game haha.

No they don’t. Another wii would mean another casual console that has high sales at first then a big drop, and a HUGE loss of respect and trust from it’s core fans. They can not afford another wii.
Except they had far worse than a wii, they had a wii u with very little sales and a huge drop off, they would be happy for another wii at this point
I’ve been away these days, but my two cents on the Switch:
1) It’s fate will be depend on how well Nintendo market it. I’m a longtime gamer and Nintendo fan, and I’m still confused if Nintendo will focus “hardcore” fans, or casuals again. I don’t know, too much motion controls in the direct, plus the lack of a traditional control bundled… The Wii and the Wii U have proven that it is impossible to cater both demographies.
2) When it comes to new games, the only title I’m anticipating is BoTW, which is coming to the Wii U.
3) When I saw MK8 and Lego City Undercover as titles to be re-released on the Switch, I felt sorry for the Wii U.
4) I’m on the fence about Skyrim’s and FIFA’s success on the Switch, and, therefore, continuous 3rd party support. No one is going to buy the Switch to play those games as they are available elsewhere. If Nintendo does not money hat 3rd parties this generation, the Switch will be as much adrift as the Wii U used to be.
Maybe I’m rushing a bit to build some conclusions, but this how I see Switch’s outcome as of today.
You didn’t like Mario or Bomberman? I’m personally more excited for mario than zelda after the trailer. I really can’t think of any other games that are exciting though, the Street Fighter II remake I may get, I’m excited for it but at the same time, it’s not really a game that is gonna help their launch window. It’s a great nod, but now isn’t the time for that haha, they need new games to get people excited about this system. How did the wii u droughts not teach them this? Software sells hardware, but wheres the softwhere? (And where’s the cream filling?) I really hope they don’t cater to casuals again, but I’m worried they will as well. And if they do then I won’t be upset if the switch fails cause how can nintendo not have learned their lesson after two straight casual systems that didn’t fair well (yes, wii had the initial huge sales, but in the end they dropped and wiis sat in closets, and casuals moved on and the gaming community did too, and many haven’t come back). Lego City I give the pass more than MK cause it’s a little older, and a bigger game with more to do, and it probably didn’t sell as well as it should have (although I have no clue how well it sold lol). I loved that game haha. I hope it sells well on switch, cause I would love to play a sequel. Skyrim I feel is to switch what mass effect 3 was to wii u. Both sound good on paper till you think about the fact that skyrim has been out for so long and already has been released again on ps4 and xbone. And mass effect 3 I think had already come out as well, but I know it had the trilogy release for the other systems. So yea there was very little reason to get mass effect 3, and very little reason to get skyrim other than having it on the go. Fifa, I don’t see being too successful cause it sells so well on the other systems especially in europe, and europe aren’t big on nintendo compared to the other two.
Since Super Mario World (2D) and Galaxy 1-2 (3D), I don’t get hyped for a Mario title. I don’t know, I’m kind of tired of it. I also found it strange that Mario will now interact with humans. Well, let’s see how Odissey will shape up.
I also liked Lego City Undercover a lot, and I think it deserves being multiplat.
On the late releases on Wii U and Switch: I agree, this strategy is far from being ideal, and ends up hampering a lot Nintendo’s image. Oh, well.
