You can’t deny that EA’s support for the Wii U wasn’t all that solid; taking a quick look at the games they currently offer – Need For Speed and Mass Effect are really the only ones apparent. It’s good news though, as EA’s executive vice president Patrick Soderlund recently spoke to IGN about why they’re supporting the Nintendo Switch:
“We’ve been with Nintendo for a very long time,” Soderlund told IGN. “I’ve been a Nintendo fanboy since I grew up. Nintendo is the reason I got into gaming.
“What I like about Nintendo is that they come to the table with a slightly different approach,” Soderlund explained.
“They’ve done that in the past to great success, and sometimes not so much, but I think unless you’re willing to think about something unconventional, it’s going to be hard to break ground.”
“Nintendo forces us to think differently,” he continued, adding that Switch “challenges conventions,” and, “as game makers, makes us think about the platform in a different way.”
He also went on to explain why they’re bringing one of their biggest franchises to the platform, Fifa:
“It’s our biggest brand,” he said. “It’s the brand that spans across the most markets. It’s the brand that spans the biggest age demographic. It’s a mass market proposition. It’s a game a lot of people want to play.”.
WTF? FIFA? I don’t want to play FIFA. I can’t speak for the rest of gamers, but does anyone on here wanna play FIFA?

Sports games, except wacky physics defying sports games, have never really interested me.
I have a feeling a lot of people on this site won’t care about FIFA, but in the semi-casual market (15-30 year old sports liking males) FIFA is indeed huge.
I know FIFA is huge, but the popularity on Nintendo is not really high. I’m not saying don’t release, I’m just saying that they could have had 5 different games out on Switch than FIFA. Battlefield and Titian Fall 2 come to mine, especially because Titian Fall 2 is an underrated game.
If they had released Battlefield and TitanFall 2, you know people would still complain. They would say it’s a late port. I have that on my PS4 or XboxOne. March release is hard to get holiday games because it is just far out enough that some people think it is old by then. This is how I’m looking at the launch right now. Once E3 come around, then I can see if third parties are willing to take a risk and release their games on the Switch.
I don’t want to play Fifa. But I want the game to be on a Nintendo home console and for it to be succesfull. We can’t go all “Duuuurr, I don’t want to play an anually released game on my precious Nintendo”, and expect the console to get the third party support that everybody says Nintendo consoles don’t have. We NEED those kinds of game to even have a chance to see third party support on Switch. If they sell good or not, that has just to be seen in the future.
I might play fifa, but the only series I really love from EA is Sims, so I really hope they will create a sims game for the switch.

FIFA is huge with the casual crowd. A lot of people only buy consoles for FIFA. Look at UK.

Wii Sports shipped more Wii’s than Fifa shipped other consoles.
Like Fifa games, I loved fifa 09 ? Which they released on wii with the ability to point where you pass with the wiimote. If they release with a similar feature for the switch I would buy day 1

Ill buy fifa. I think they release their most popular game as a measuring stick. If their most popular game gets shit sales what do you think its gonna happen to other games? Now if it sells really well than i see other games from EA coming over to switch.
FIFA is massive in Europe, and yes, it has a massive age-range. Given what the Switch is meant to offer, it can be one of those games people will buy a system for.
Believe me, I don’t care for sports games, but I’m not naive to think that it won’t have a potential impact. Every game helps the Switch, even the ones we dislike or don’t care about. There’s always someone that will buy it, and if that translates to a hardware sale, that’s another one for the books.
Here in Brazil FIFA is very popular game, almost everyone that OWNS a Playstation 4 or Xbox have one. But it’s not popular with Nintendo gamers. Mt friend told me: people buy Nintenco console to play Nintendo games. There are still some Nintendo console owners that own a Fifa game, but they are rare

If the switch doesn’t sell, all Nintendo’s getting is sports games from ea.
