Capcom: Ultra Street Fighter 2 For Switch Will Only Come To Other Platforms If Sales Are “Extremely” Good

Nintendo fans were pleased to find out that Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers was a surprise game in development by Capcom for the Nintendo Switch. IGN recently caught up with Yoshinori Ono to talk to him all about the game and ask him the inevitable question of whether the game will grace the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Ono says that they spent a lot of time looking at the Switch and would only port it across if it sold extremely well. You can read the full interview on the game with Yoshinori Ono, here.

“If this title sells extremely well we’ll consider it. We put a lot of thought into how this can be fully enjoyed on the Nintendo Switch, so for the time being it’s only going to be on Switch.”

      1. I agree with you on that which is why I’ll wait till 1 2 switch is around 5-10 dollars lol but nah 30 is too much for me. This game has been re released so many times. 15 is being generous imo

        1. From a value/eneral entertainment standpoint sure.
But SSFII is one of the best fighting games ever made, and this is apparently an improvement on it (we’ll see about that, but still).
If it is, this is a very interesting game to anybody into competitive fighting games.
Def worth thirty in that case.

    1. Completly different bruh, the 360 game was Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo (HD Remix.) This is Ultra Street Fighter 2 Turbo (the Final Challengers.)

See, MAJOR difference. Its not even the same game. It might aswell be Street Fighter 6 or even 7 with how much of a difference and resources that the Amazing Capcom put into this game.

      /s.

        1. Lol, technically though, it the highest selling fighting game. I know its cheatimg, but with the 100+ ports and remakes, SF2, is the highest selling fightimg game 😂

  1. I thought that was one of the games that was going to work like the PlayStation Plus membership, where if you stay subscribed that’s one of the games you get automatically

  2. $10 max for me and I love fighting games. Especially the Capcom vs Marvel games. I hope those come to the Switch. Just realized fighting games would be pretty perfect for the Switch too. Matter of fact a lot of genres would work extremely well on the Switch. Dang I think it will be quite a successful console after all.

    1. Fighting games are actually kinda less than ideal on Switch since there’s no traditional d pad. at the Switch event people were only able to play this with the pro controller and there’s probably a reason for that

      1. No doubt you’ll want to use something else than the joycon if you can, it’s just nice to have the option if nothing else is available.

But saying it’s less than ideal? You can still use the pro controller or a fight stick to play USFII if you want,
only setback is so far there’s no fight stick you can use without the dock.

  3. No kidding. This is pretty much a port of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix with some truly uninspired additions.

    1. That’s what we all thought at first, but it isn’t. They just used the same sprites.

As you can see here, huge changes and rebalances were made for HDR, making it quite the different beast from Super Street Fighter II X: Grand Master Challenge
USFII uses none of this, and instead takes base in SSFIIX:GMC again and develops new balance/additions from there.

If you’re a casual fan just looking for some street fighter on a console, HDR and USFII is literally the same game,
but for people into competitive fighting the two games couldn’t be more different.

  4. I’d probably buy this if it was a physical release. Since Street Fighter II is one of those games I have fond memories of. It’s the only Street FIghter game I ever liked. Then Mortal Kombat came along, and I was like “Street Fighter What?”. But nowadays, I’m not into fighting games at all.

  5. They will, use the money they get from this endeavor, not to bring more games to Switch, but fund the multiplats on other consoles. The usual.

    1. King Kalas X3 (Greatness Awaits at Sony PlayStation 4 only because Nintendo are DUMBFUCKS!!)

Like they did RE0, RE Remake, & RE4 on GCN & RER on 3DS.

  6. I feel like Ultra Street Fighter 2 was made because sony holds exclusivity to the newer game on consoles.
So it’s like, they can’t put Street Fighter 5 on Wii U, so let’s put a hand drawn remake on the Wii U.
Then again, this is probably partly based on sales of the VC Street Fighter games, and they felt a new installment for part 2 would be worth the time making for Switch.

This sounds familiar. Oh yeah! They did the same with Resident Evil 0, Resident Evil Remake, Resident Evil 4, & Resident Evil Revelations! When those games sold well on Nintendo consoles, they got ported to other consoles years later. Some got their ports quicker than others.
