‘For Honor’ Could Come To Nintendo Switch But Game Sales Will Dictate If Port Materialises

Current plans for the soon-to-be-released game ‘For Honor’ don’t include a Nintendo Switch version but sales of the title will determine if it makes an appearance on Nintendo’s next home console.

Jason VandenBerghe at Ubisoft made it clear that For Honor becoming a Nintendo Switch game was not out of the question and pointed towards the potential success of the title to make their decision for them.

“It’s not something that we’re focused on. We’ve been in development on For Honor for a long time and the question of ‘Will this game work?’ is the big thing,” he told Trusted Reviews.

“I just want to get the game out on the core platform and see who plays it. Once we’re there and we’ve established if we’re successful, then I think we can look at where we’re gonna go from here.

“It’s weird, but it’s not even a question we’re addressing right now.”

Due to hit the shelves on February 14th, the game will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PS4 and PC. Fingers crossed it’ll do well so we can take the title on the road and play it TV-Free.

  1. Two times on PS4? Should be really cool then! ;)
I’m not that much interested on the game but if they want to port it… it will certainly please someone else.

  2. I think this is the first time anyone has said that a port depends on the sales on other consoles rather than sales of the Switch.

    1. I feel that it means that Ubisoft doesn’t have so much faith on the franchise. They want to test the waters and see if it’ll sell well on 3 huge platforms before commiting on making a 4th port :O

  3. They’re are going to need a offline mode at least, but at the same time, due to Nintendo having the cheapest online service, online mp games will definitely sell much better on the Switch then on ps4 and xbox live. I never pay to play online, but $15-$25 a year is nothing really. I still prefer free online service, but at least Nintendo isn’t charging the price of a full retail game, and worse case scenario the Switch still has local mp when it’s near another Switch. Other consoles completely destroyed couch co op entirely, whereas Nintendo is at least putting in the effort to keep it alive with little to no cost.

  4. It’s weird thinking. The game could sell better on the Switch due to its portable nature. And if a game doesn’t sell well, don’t you naturally want to bring it to more platforms to sell more copies?

  5. For honor looks fun, but it badly needs a single player campaign. Either way, I don’t really care if it comes to the Switch since I’ll probably play it on the PS4.

Side note, how does the auto correct already know to capitalize the word Switch? lol

    1. If it’s online only like TitanFall 1, I may reconsider. I’m just not online often enough to make use of it.

I got Titan Fall 2 on X1 cheap because of the XLive. They added a single player campaign that’s a Sci-fi fans dream. If For Honor tanks like Titanfall 1, maybe they’ll add single player for round 2? I guess there are more people like me than I though, playing the campaigns in games popularized by their multi-player.

And I don’t know how Microsoft and Sony can afford such deep discounts on games just by charging $60 once a year… I’ve made out like a bandit, last year especially. I hope the devs are getting their money!

  7. Looks like an interesting game, one of the few from Ubisoft. But if it comes to the Switch long after I’ve already got it on the PC, then it needs to be really good for me to buy it again and have it portable.
