Here Is What The Nintendo Switch Section At GameStop Will Look Like

With major high street retailers like GameStop gearing up for the big launch day for the Nintendo Switch, one GameStop employee (who goes by the name of kajex1UP on Reddit) has kindly shared an image of what the Nintendo Switch section will look like. Judging by the image, it’s probably worth assuming that this was mocked up to be in line with Head Office requirements and normal stores will follow suit very soon.

It’s also been mentioned that Nintendo are making sure that their sections are located toward the front of the stores to maximise on the footfall of customers.

  1. Towards the front eh? Of the two GameStops I frequent one puts all Nintendo stuff in the back while the other has it on shelves in the middle with both walls dedicated to PlayStation and Xbox.

          1. King Kalas X3 {Greatness Awaits at Sony PlayStation 4! Hopefully it will also await us at Nintendo Switch if Nintendo doesn't FUCK things up again!}

            *looks at the green colors* Looks like an Xbot controller to me. *shrug* lol

  2. Generally, ‘bays’ or ‘sections’ are sold to companies like Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft for fixed terms. In the UK the further your software/hardware/POS and accessories are to the front of the store, the more money it will cost you. It would seem that Nintendo have spent a pretty penny shunting their brand to the front.

    1. They dead the Wii U section or the ps3/Xbox 360 section in favorite of the new one. They usually will do a clear out sale sometime soon before switch hits. I think they actually did that a few days ago for pro reward customers.

  3. Another good thing on Nintendo’s end, because GameStop doesn’t push their products to the front of the store. They get the planO, but they sometimes don’t follow it even after the Nintendo rep sees the results.

  4. Well to me looks really bad and looks so sad that I want to cry, it doesn’t even say what it is, it’s a wii u section it’s a GameCube section or what ? I don’t see nintendo switch in it or a logo or something. Gamestop is so patetic lol I’ll buy everything at target which is on the side of gamestop.

  5. Cool, more hardware and accessories than software. Granted it’s at launch so I can’t expect much but, i’ve got 20 bucks says it’ll look like that the Switch’s whole lifespan. I’ve been in gamestops through multiple console generations and their (the ones ive been in at least) Nintendo sections are a joke. I for one say F gamestop.

  6. I guess the Switch is a good name given all the accessories to switch it up since there’s no games. Reminds me of the Wii with all the add-ons to avoid raising the base price, but in reality raise the price of full entry.

    1. I wouldn’t say it raised the price of full entry. Every Nintendo generation of consoles had its line of accessories but you only ever needed one controller to play and that came with the console. Its not really surprising considering Nintendo’s history making toys. I do think its kinda shitty that a store that specializes in only video games seems to shit on Nintendo. Even with the WiiU and its so called limited amount of games, walk into any gamestop and take note then go across the street to Walmart. Every Walmart ive ever been in has WAY more selection when it comes to Nintendo games. I would think that the video game store would, i dont know, have more video games. Especially compared to the place where you would buy cat food, rubbermaid storage bins, and get your oil changed.

      1. My SNES didn’t require add ons, or my PS1. If you look at PS4 and XB1 you have full features out of the box. Switch, good luck.

        I’ve always prefered buying at Target.

    I don’t expect much from my GameStop. They’ll probably ditch the Wii U stuff & put the Switch in it’s spot which is in the back by the registers & the back where they put the extra stock & inventory.
