The NPD results are in and it was the PlayStation 4 that was the best-selling console in the United States during the month of January. However, what is interesting is that it was the NES Mini which proved to be the third best-selling console as retailers received more stock of the lucrative system. The retro-themed console sold more units than the Wii U and shows that the NES Mini is doing a fine job of selling hardware for Nintendo ahead of the Switch.
Software
- Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
- Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Battlefield 1
- NBA 2K17
- Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue
- Madden NFL 17
- Watch Dogs 2
- Overwatch
- FIFA 17
This is great news that the NES classic edition is doing so well in sales! Due to its success, other console manufacturers may come up with their own variation of remade retro systems. Also if Nintendo decides to make a NES classic 2, it should feature even more games and if possible be backwards compatible.
It’s horrible news actually. The NES mini could have sold ten times the amount it did. IMO the handling of the NES mini was one of the biggest blunders in Nintendos history.
Well, the WiiU is out of production and the Switch isn’t out yet, so the only competition is Ps4 and Xbox1. So naturally it would take 3rd… Plus The 3DS is in less demand than the NES.
The 3DS is nowhere to be found since Black Friday, check any store, everywhere sold out.
Yup, I forgot to mention that…
though — at the same time, the NES is no where to be found either.
didn’t know that. Pretty strange, like Nintendo tries to drain the customerbase and get them to buy a Switch. So much about they’re looking into releasing a 3DS successor.
Of course PS4 was on top in January! Who else is gonna be at the top? Wii U!? xD And I see Resident Evil 7 biohazard is also on top, too, in spite of it releasing on the 24th. Take the “Resident Evil should be rebooted!” line & shove it! D:<
I’m a ps4 fan and all, but only reason why it’s on top is because X1 has zero games right now. Halo Wars ain’t pushing no systems.
Wow really? I have not been able to secure a NES Mini in January. Not in retail stores nor online. Imagine if the NES Mini was actually available at all times it might have been the Best Seller for January.
How the heck can a console that stores never have be a best seller? And no, don’t tell me that’s WHY stores don’t have any, because they sell so great. Uh, NO!
I predict that the SNES Mini is going to sell 5 million units!
The NES mini could have sold alot more than it did. The SNES mini could potentially sell ten times the amount you suggest. Nintendo just has to get them in stores.
