New 1-2-Switch Ad Shows Players Really Getting Into Sword Fight, Milk And Telephone

One of the latest commercials for 1-2-Switch shows a number of enthusiastic players who appear to be really getting into the Sword Fight, Milk and Telephone minigames. It also highlights how Nintendo wants you to play the party game anywhere and in front of anyone, regardless of how awkward it may seem. 1-2-Switch is a launch title for Nintendo Switch, which is set to release globally on March 3.

  1. This game is SO epic.
Why get Zelda when I can start a grand adventure in 1-2-Switch!
I can just play the Sword Fight minigame, and get my fix!
Forget Lon Lon Ranch, I’ll just play… Milk!

In all seriousness though, this could be fun to screw around with, when company is over.
Other than that… I don’t find much value in this game haha.
Maybe I’m wrong, but $50 still seems like too much for a game like this.
If this was a cheap download title, I’d probably buy it for use with friends.

    1. 9.99 should be a right price for this game. There is no graphics at all to mantain, no licenses. There is nothing inside it that justifying a standard price.

    1. Exactly. I have watched all the 1-2 Switch videos. I try but fail to see any appeal in it. I would honestly be embarrassed to bring this game out during a party. I would also be worried that my joy cons would get damaged. It’s like when you got a shitty toy for Christmas, you play with it for a few minutes and then just leave it on the floor and do something else without a care as to what happens to it, ya know what I mean? I don’t want folks abandoning my joy cons on the ground or floor or whatever just cause after 2mins they are bored as hell.

This game has the potential to bring back wii shovelware memories. People are going to spend $50 on this game and play it once. It is such a terrible idea to charge for this game.

  2. My hope is that this off-TV experience gives them a secret entrance of sorts into the growing field of Tabletop Gaming. They could start with something accessible like this and then go on to produce more involved games. Imagine that kind of approach applied to Mario Party: An actual external board for an in-room experience, but enhanced by Joycon interaction and minigames on the Tablet/TV.

Too, Nintendo is looking to expand outlets for their IPs, so this would be a perfect match for their current strategy.

    1. Not a bad idea at all. I can imagine a scenario where you are playing a hybrid board/video RPG with a TV and multiple switches with the kind of dice that were never made for mario party. I think Nintendo develops ideas and then floats some games out to see how people react to them and whether there is a market and then the next go round is further development and a better game.

Still, this game should have been bundled with the switch for free. A shame it wasn’t

    1. It’s not Wii Sports, that’s clear. At least there it was some ‘content’. Bad looking content but still… now it’s outside the console pack without content (yay?).

      1. It’ll be a great game for most get-togethers. But since it is so whacky, it’d have to be a party and it’d have to be with people willing to buy-in to the premise of the game. It’d also have to be with people not easily embarrassed and too uppity to play a Nintendo system. I don’t know. Just seems like too many preconditions.

        1. It’s for kids and families mostly despite the ads. I’d play this with my kids in a second and they would like it. Not saying I will buy it, but that is where I see the appeal

            1. I am just saying that despite many people on here dismissing it, kids are the people who will play this game and it does, like it or not, display a “new way to play” which has been the mantra

                1. Or you will just see more sales for Switch, which means more great games for everyone and improvements in this genre of game. This doesn’t have to be spun negatively. I have never played it so maybe you have, but what if it is very fun? How is that bad?

                  1. From third parties… Nintendo’s resources are somewhat limited, if they do one game maybe they don’t do another. Why spending 10 million dollars for a high risk Metroid when you can do a 1-2-Switch with 1 million? They gonna fire everyone like Konami. ^^

                    1. That isn’t the case. Only so many games can be made like this if it works. That isn’t going to exclude the other genres. It will actually allow more money to be put into other games because some of these that (appear) to be less expensive to develop are selling a ton.

  3. King Kalas X3 {Greatness Awaits at Sony PlayStation 4! Hopefully it will also await us at Nintendo Switch if Nintendo doesn't FUCK things up again!}

I pity any idiots paying 50 bucks for this. Yep. I said it. You are a fucking idiot if you buy this for 50 bucks. If every one of you buying this just ignores it, I guarantee Nintendo will drop the price down to 10 bucks or give it away for free at some point. Just be patient.
