Nintendo France: Switch Doesn’t Support Bluetooth Headsets/Headphones

Nintendo France has confirmed today that the Nintendo Switch doesn’t support bluetooth headsets and headphones. The news comes following an interview with the very same site during which Nintendo’s very own Yoshiaki Koizumi seemingly confirmed support for Bluetooth headsets and headphones. Let’s hope they will eventually be supported via an update.

    1. Nintendo’s Marketing Department is kicking ass.
      Their PR department is sucking.
If I were Marketing, I’d walk over to PR and tell them to get on the fucking ball so their hard work doesn’t go to waste!

  1. 2 million preorders, and Nintendo won’t give us a straight answer on jack shit. But then they don’t need to, do they? They are sold out. The guinea pigs are tagged and soon it will be time to watch the great Switch Experiment!!

    1. King Kalas X3 {Greatness Awaits at Sony PlayStation 4! Hopefully it will also await us at Nintendo Switch if Nintendo doesn't FUCK things up again!}

*gnaws on tag like a coyote gnaws at it’s leg to escape a bear trap* It won’t come off! D:

      1. Haha. Where ya been? Life is good I hope? Enjoying your switch?? Enjoying Zelda?!!

Good to see you around these parts!

Life is good. If not for Zelda: BotW, Switch would have been an utter waste of my money & in-store GameStop credit from selling all of my Wii, Wii U, & PS4 games I no longer needed since I had them digitally on PS4 along with the cursed Wii U.

So yes! Very much enjoying Zelda! The lack of HD Rumble & motion controls for using my sword & shield and the old man you meet at the beginning on the plateau spoiled stuff that should have been saved for emotional plot twists later in the game’s story are huge bummers, but other than those fuck ups from the development team, great so far!

          1. That’s so funny the old man on the hill I was supposed to follow I got sidetracked climbing some cliff and I totally forgot about him and I had to run into him later! My mistake and ADHD turned out to work to my benefit Lol

I went down the cliff Link stopped at after leaving the chamber Link awoke in & ran into the rock boss on the Great Plateau before going to where the old man was at after leaving the chamber. Of course, I stopped playing after that & started a brand new game the next day. I had some things to wrap up on Pokemon Moon before I got fully into BotW.

Oh & as I promised myself, one of the very first things I did in the game after Link woke up was jump! I didn’t even pick up the Shiekah Slate til after a few jumps! xD

Anyway, does the Wii U version still have the Gamepad stuff? Or did they actually remove it? I will probably find out on my own, though, as I get closer to the most recent MNN article as I’m sure there will be an article mentioning it if they are gone. But that will have to wait for tomorrow as I’ve been on the internet going through MNN emails since around 11 am & it’s almost 10 pm now! Must make me some din-din then play some more Zelda: BotW then bed! I guess I’ll watch the recording of this past Saturday’s episode of Gundam Unicorn on Toonami while eating me food. But after that, then Zelda. Then bed. *hears mental self in head screaming “Shut up & get off the computer already, bitch! Must play more Zelda! God damn you!” & sighs* D: I’m going, I’m going!

              1. The gamepad has a black fucking screen. not even a map. It’s the worst of what I feared. :/ I probably will not buy another Nintendo game… at least for a very long time. Maybe a Metroid, but I’m not even sure that will bring me back after this.

The game itself runs very smooth on the WiiU and looks great, if this is my last Nintendo game, I’m trying to push aside my negativity and really enjoy it. it’s so addicting and rediculously fun!

We Switch users got shafted, too, as I mentioned earlier the lack of HD Rumble & motion controls for swinging your sword. It’s sad knowing the only reason the game took so long to come out was because they were removing the usage of the Gamepad instead of trying to make both versions unique to the console they were on. Should have just released the Wii U version as soon as it was ready instead of trying to remove Gamepad functions, then release the Switch port with HD Rumble & optional motion controls for weapons.

                  1. Exactly. We both got screwed.
Maybe the Universe wasn’t ready for a game so spectacularly awesome that it could cause an implosion of the known gaming universe.. so to save us all, Nintendo had to gimp the game from God-Like to Legendary.

Yeah. I guess Nintendo thought we couldn’t handle such a god-like of a game so they reduced it to legendary status instead. Perfect explanation of what Nin. Ten. D’OH!! did to Breath of the Wild.

                    2. King Kalas X3 {Greatness Awaits at Sony PlayStation 4! Hopefully it will also await us at Nintendo Switch if Nintendo doesn't FUCK things up again!}

But if the fanboys & Gamepad haters are happy, fuck us, right!? :/

  2. many decisions like the external voice chat app, no BT support and stuff most likely have to do with the Switch not wasting too many ressources and especially power on these things. Imagine how a VOIP cllient running in background would drain the battery. I can totally live with these decisions and in the end it’s pretty much given that they’re gonna release a Switch with a bigger battery once the hardware parts get more affordable to implement.

    1. Just a question, when the Wii u parts got cheaper, did the gamepad increase? Just a thought… It didn’t. So why would the gamepad increase over time? Oh yeah, it won’t.

    2. Not really a proper excuse considering the Vita could do it 5 years ago and tech has advanced considerably since then.

With that said, Bluetooth headsets aren’t really an important thing for consoles. PS3/Vita had it but that’s it. Even other consoles with BT support use it for other things like controllers. Most people can game without the function.

  3. What’s with all the contradictory and also unfinished statements? The thing is 8 days away and we still don’t know everything we should!

We know Switch will have paid online after an initial free trial period, but when does paid start? How much? And what are ALL the benefits?

Is it or is it not 100% dependent on an app for voice chat or setting up games with friends?

Does it or does it not support headsets? If not, are there plans for that down the line?

I’m still getting one on launch, but the general lack of info has be a bit peeved.

    1. Yeah, it’s really frustrating. They did confirm that the free period will be at launch until about the fall. So, basically, they’re not charging us for the online service until after Mario Kart and Splatoon come out or it would be kind of pointless.

      1. True. Still, there’s no confirmed price point. One article previously said it would be around $20 a year (I forget the yen equivalent) but again, no follow-up of any sort. They better not wait until like 1 week before paid begins or I’m actually gonna be mad.

  4. This doesn’t affect me very much at all, currently. However, this is, relatively speaking, awful news for the system and the Nintendo community.
The more and more I know about the Switch, the less and less I want it. The only reason I am buying it is because it is a Nintendo handheld which means Pokemon, and also because the overall concept is pretty awesome.

  5. What’s with the contradicting statements? Not to mention the website itself says bluetooth support for TV mode. I don’t know that I trust this statement.

    1. This is on Nintendo.co.uk:
      Bluetooth 4.1 (TV mode only.
I do not know what else they would be using BT for.
If it was controllers, those are known to work on every mode, and they probably would not bother mentioning it in the details.

  6. Considering canceling preorder….which is why they were holding onto this information. What a ridiculous thing not to include in the Switch. It’s because Nintendo is very cheap and selfish.

      1. Tbh, after reading some of your comments on MNN I can safely say that you know fuck all.

I’ve had it preordered for at least 2 months. I wont cancel the preorder now because I know I will be able to sell it for a couple hundred bucks more then what I paid for it. I just am not sure if i’m going to keep it or sell it at this point.

I’m not sure why i’m even replying to you, a Nintendo fanboy that probably doesn’t even own a Wii U never mind someone that is able to buy Nintendo Switch.

        1. Nintendo First Order Commander Quadraxis

          ||I’m not sure why i’m even replying to you, a Nintendo fanboy that probably doesn’t even own a Wii U never mind someone that is able to buy Nintendo Switch||

          ||Illogical statement and by your flawed logic, you would be the Nintendo Fanboy compared to him…||

  7. Why are we relying on interviews with Nintendo France for this info anyway? Nintendo has already started sending consoles out to people. There are like a thousand unboxing videos on YouTube already. Surely, someone who has a system can start answering these freaking questions!

      1. Switch has a headset jack as well. The PS3 and Vita have Bluetooth headset connectivity as an option, so it’s nothing about being newer. It’s just a tech that isn’t utilized much because you get better sound other ways and use the Bluetooth for things like controllers

  8. The Switch console does, yes. That’s not the same as having them in your controllers. The problem with this announcement is the realization that you will absolutely have to go through your phone while @ home to connect to party chat and online gaming. Which is ridiculous, and yes it really is. Can we an even cross game chat with this “app”? Bad news for people waiting for Nintendo to offer them a decent online experience comparable to Xbox or PS4, what do you think? Couple this with the announcement that they care more about casuals then their core fans. Not looking good.

  9. This confusion is fucked up.
I’m just going to wait and see what happens, I’m already committed in to buying it for it’s unique properties, anything else will be plus.
