Amazon US Removed The Listing For Breath Of The Wild Wii U

While the Switch version seems unaffected, Amazon US has removed their listing for the Wii U release of Breath of the Wild.  Some customers who pre-ordered the game have received emails telling them that it no longer has a release date. This is slightly concerning for anyone looking forward to the Wii U version of Breath of the Wild, but it is probably just a mistake on Amazon’s side. Check your order just to be safe.

“The item(s) you ordered is not yet released. We will notify you of a specific delivery date when one is available.”

  1. You may want to alter your article. I just checked Amazon’s website, and it doesn’t offer the physical version of Breath of the Wild for the Wii U, but still offers to let people get the digital version for the Wii U. (I have the digital version pre-ordered right now, and my order is unaffected and the page for the Wii U version of Breath of the Wild just says “Buy Digital”) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06WGQ63R7/ref=oh_aui_d_detailpage_o00_?ie=UTF8&th=1

    1. Amazon sells digital versions? I thought digital was only through the eshop. And why would anyone need to pre-order a digital version anyway? They can’t run out of stock of digital. Serious question. I am not a digital buyer, as you can probably tell by my comment.

      1. Well preordering digital lets you download the game early (sometimes.) So come midnight, the game unlocks and you just start playing. Its not very common yet, and its usually the bigger games that get preload’s, but its something. You also get little things like themes, avy’s, and at times dlc.

Its less common on Nintendo platforms though.

GameStop & Amazon sell digital codes for games for the Wii U & Switch, regardless of whether it’s 1st or 3rd party. So no, digital is not exclusive to the eShop. You didn’t know this til recently? Ouch. lol

      1. Hard to say. Mine has had its release date changed. There is a big mess at amazon, and I’m pretty sure I’m going to get screwed somehow.

    1. I agree, and since I am only seeing the Digital version for the Wii U available (for the Wii U) that is probably the case, being as it is pretty much impossible for them to run out of the Digital version of a game (unless they have a limited amount of download codes at the moment)

    2. I fucking hope so. My preorder is physical also. … If I get it, I think I’ll leave it packaged and download the game. Maybe it will be a collector’s. :D

      1. I hope it turned out ok for you today. I preorderd the Wii U version early January and today Amazon sent me the Switch version. I just got off the phone with Amazon customer service and had to force them to give me the Prime pre-order discount on the digital download.

        1. Thinks did not work out OK. There was a huge cluster fuck at Amazon. I won’t get my copy until next week. I did get a discount though.

Wow. So glad I went digital & didn’t try to go with Amazon.

            1. Good call my friend. I ended up going digital so I could start playing it sooner, and maybe I’ll either save the WiiU copy as a collector thing, or MAYBE give it away on my up and coming youtube channel. Either way, I’m happy to have it digital. Makes it easier to swap between Twilight HD and BotW, plus I thnk it runs smoother. (but that could just be in my head and not true… I feel like it may run smoother since it cuts out the optical drive loading, but I really don’t know)

Let’s hope by the time you buy a Switch, Nintendo will actually offer a deal to get the Switch version of BotW for half price or much less on Switch if you own the game digitally on Wii U. Just make sure your NNID is connected to your Nintendo Account.

    1. Turns out you were right… I think the WiiU version IS getting delayed again. There are not enough curse words… there are stock, or inventory issues, or… IDK. Someone, somewhere is confused and fucking things up.

        1. OK, well maybe I need to cancel my Amazon order and preorder from best buy. because the Amazon orders are a mess. They are delayed.

  2. I preordered the Switch version of the game and I still don’t have an estimate. I’m beginning to wonder if I should check to see if any preorders are available at Best Buy, Target, or Gamestop just in case.

  3. It might just be for people that ordered in the past few weeks.I have 2 pre-ordered, one for me and one for my friend, I ordered mine a long time ago so mine is unaffected, I received that same message for the one I pre-ordered for my friend though since I just did it not that long ago so he may get screwed over.

  4. Well, I ordered it seconds after the Switch reveal, I was waiting to order until I knew it would come out while I was still in the US, and we didn’t know the release date until then :/ so whenever the cut off was it was before January, I continued talking to Amazon and they stuck with April 12, but cut $30 off the price. I’m still frustrated, I’d rather pay 90 for the game and get it in march, I’m gonna run around and look for a physical retailer on launch day I guess.

  5. I can’t possibly believe nintendo would cancel the game 6 days before release, it sounds like Nintendo just manufactured very few copies of the game on wii u, that’s what the amazon person said at least

  6. The Wii U version has been cancelled. Already delivered stock must be returned to Nintendo’s headquarters, where it will be shredded!
    DOOSDAY!

  7. I placed my preorder in June and mine is saying there’s no delivery date available. I feel like Amazon’s dropping the ball on this, and if I don’t have it release day for the wii u I guess I’ll be going elsewhere to get it.

  8. I ordered mine Jan 17 and had a good delivery date of 3-3-2017 untill about two days ago and now the status has changed to “DELIVERED” but shows no good estimated date of shipment or delivery.

    1. I got the exact same thing on my switch preorder. Get on a chat with them and raise hell. I did. Got $10 and faster shipping but they still couldn’t confirm delivery date. What the hell is up with amazon and this game?

      1. No more Amazon pre-orders for me after this bait-and-switch.

I did call and complain and got a $10 credit, which effectively gives me the Prime pre-order discount if I end up buying it elsewhere.

We’ll see if by some miracle it’s just a bookkeeping error. Otherwise I’ll probably buy it digitally from the e-shop.

I WILL be playing Zelda BotW this weekend!

  9. I am in the UK, and I have just checked my order, placed on 20 January 2017.

It says “Arriving Friday”, so all good.

The product is marked as “Currently unavailable. We don’t know when or if this item will be back in stock.”, so I am guessing they have just sold out, and maybe delayed some orders randomly?

    Fingers crossed!
