While they’ve made some questionable decisions over the last few years, it’s nice to see Konami reviving one of their classic franchises for the Switch’s launch. The company is one of the few third parties present at the console’s launch, releasing Super Bomberman R. However, Konami has a massive collection of IPs that haven’t received such a treatment. In an interview with Just Pause, Konami’s Benjamin Kinney was asked if Bomberman’s revival could mean the return of other retro characters. He gave quite a generic answer, but it’s good that these older games are still on the company’s mind.
If Super Bomberman R proves to be successful, can we count on seeing more classic Konami IP – such as Boktai, Goemon, and Suikoden – being revived?
Regardless of Super Bomberman R’s success, we are always evaluating opportunities for all of our IPs.
||Mystical Ninja at once, even a remake of Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon is enough…||
I’d die & go to heaven if I could play Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon from the N64 with awesome overhauled graphics & great HD quality! I miss the music from that game. Especially that starry night sky area!
Please revive Metal Gear Solid!
Hold on a second.. From what I’m reading here, the headline is hogwash.
Isn’t he specifically saying that the success of Bomberman has nothing to do with it?
That’s how I read it as well.
Yep:
“Based on Super Bomberman R’s success”
“Regardless of Super Bomberman R’s success”
Completely different meaning.
They are saying this:
Sure, we are always thinking about opportunities/releases for our ips but if we make some $ from Bomberman you can actually count on some more releases from us.
“Regardless of Super Bomberman R’s success, we are always evaluating opportunities for all of our IPs.”
They can evaluate all they want but unless they make some money they wont be bringing anything out.
I guess that’s halfway right. They probably won’t do more bombermen of that kind if this one doesn’t do well. Definitely makes sense.
But, going by this. If bomberman bombs but then later they feel like “this is the time for boktai, it’s really gonna sell”.
They’re not gonna decide “bomberman didn’t sell, we’re not making boktai”.
Will still make that game.
I so want to see another Boktai game. Also, Boktai 3 for VC on the Switch. That’d be neat, but a man can dream….
They could use the light sensor on the Switch to detect whether its night or day :D
Boktai was an awesome game when I was a kid. I remember when I used to play the game a lot outside when my family went on vacation or we’d go out to the countryside :D
Best game and a Switch Sequel/VC game would be awesome
How about another Lost in Blue game? I liked all 3 on the DS, I just don’t want a new one to be mired in microtransactions (pay $2 to refill your hydration meter).
Holy crap, please revive Goemon’s Great Adventure. That was such an awesome game for the 64. Or even better, make a brand new Goemon game.
Well hopefully Bomberman is worth the asking price
Wow they kinda dropped the ball in this article

Contra?
Yesss that would be sick! The headline is wrong by the way….
He said nothing, I don’t see the news here.
Huh, I’ve actually never heard of Boktai, and it looks great. I do, however, want Goemon and Suikoden really badly.
This is some of the worse journalism My eyes have ever seen. I love it.
Bullshit.
I will see it when I believe it. This is Konami we are talking about.
Please bring back Castlevania! Getting a game like that on the Switch would be a Day 1 buy for me.
Yea no, I doubt that they will actually go ahead and revive other franchises they have under their belt
A classic non-answer. The statement did not answer the question or give any new information.
Even though I only played a little of some of the games, they should bring the Goemon games (Mystical Ninja) back to the west. For people that love Japanese culture, there’s no game quite like Goemon.
Wish they would just sell Team Silent / All IP of Silent Hill to Capcom. At least they know somewhat what to do with their Suvival Horror series.
I want a new zombies ate my neighbors game !
Bloody Roar please and thank you.
Salamander!
Suikoden!!!
At this point going back to older franchises is all Cuntnami can do anyway. It’s not like they have a choice.
Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon from N64 getting a remake would be nice. Just don’t change the music, story, or overall gameplay and I’ll buy it in a heartbeat.
