Polygon has uploaded 10 minutes of hands-on gameplay from World 2 of Yooka-Laylee, Glitterglaze Glacier. As you can see from the video the 3D platformer is shaping up rather nicely and we haven’t got too long to wait for the release. Yooka-Laylee launches on April 11th on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One with the Switch version coming at a later date.

Definitely I would not take the Switch (329€) for this. I need high profile games. I’m a bit worried on all the attention to indies as of now.
Great games from real software house are needed. Especially Nintendo.
This game is ok for my children. It’s slow simple gameplay. Light years afar from Mario. Even a 2D game like Yoshi is 10 times more appealing. Not 2, 10.
So you’re saying indies aren’t real games? Indies are just as important as bigger developers.
You say it, but the market say otherwise. Indies sells nothing compared to full fledged games. There is only one game that sold well (Minecraft). Others are all sub-50.000. So many in the 1.000. Not many purchase indie games, definitely isn’t something to build a platform on, just a plus. Very few are quality games. Most are exercise in style.
But yet companies still take the risk with indie developers as they’re not fully realized yet. Titles like ori and the blind forest,stardew valley,super hot,steam world dig and many others have found massive success in the mainstream and they’re shining examples of how other devs can achieve great levels of quality. Haven’t you forgotten about that?
50.000 isn’t massive. 2 millions is. Half a million is very good.
It’s true that there are good indie but Nintendo should choose and not flooding the market like Atari did.

Many demos, many dumb games. But there aren’t any Captain Blood there. Lot of useless stuff instead.
I appreciate good quality indie but it’s scarse. You are putting on a pedestal something that don’t deserve it.
I could play again my very old Captain Blood today, but those demos I leave to those that can ‘wow’ looking at pop art.
It is just the launch… You can either get a Switch because you want the slightly better version of Zelda and play it anywhere along with a handful of other titles, cool indies and throughout the summer get mario Kart and Splatoon and then wait till fall when the E3 announced games come with Skyrim and then Mario…

I am certain that Nintendo is doing things right, I want to buy this at launch, I’m faithful this time. I’m just saying that I hope they get it all right and invest money on good games, both theirs and some third parties. We need them, indies are just a plus.
I invest all that money because I trust quality software will be there (those 60$ games from Nintendo and third parties).
I’m already in for Zelda, Kart and especially Odissey. This year will be fantastic.

Pointing out something I was not aware of until today: PC Digital backers weren’t allowed to change platforms, nor were they allowed to get a refund.
That is very lame on Playtonic’s part. I appreciate the hard work that has gone into this game and very much look forward to playing it, but not offering that to those who can’t change from PC Digital to Switch is a dick move. I’ll absolutely play Yooka-Laylee and probably love it, and I’ll look forward to whatever games Playtonic makes in the future, but I am never backing a Kickstarter of theirs again.
