Niantic Wants To Expand On Pokémon GO’s Story In The Future

Pokémon GO has been slowly expanding over the recent months, with new Pokémon being added to the game and seasonal events being featured, on top of this, Niantic’s CEO John Hanke had indicated that the team wanted to continue to add content in the future.

However, in a recent interview with Polygon, senior product manager Tatsuo Nomura seems in less of a rush for new content, and wants to focus a lot more on the stories behind the characters and the narrative.

“It’s not like we’re forgetting [about the characters], but it’s just resource-wise, what we are doing next … Do we do multiplayer and gen two versus putting out more narrative?. So far, it’s not being our focus, but we are not leaving it behind. I personally still want to think a lot more stories behind them and narratives.”

Whilst some would prefer additional content to be added such as battles and trading, it would be interesting to see some more background on the characters that feature in Pokémon GO too. We’ll keep you posted with any news on new features and updates in the future.

  1. We all know the story. This takes place before the Pokemon games. It’s much akin to the Safari zone. No battles for wild Pokemon, just checking balls. No real Gym leaders or gyms, just contested points of interest.

There are plenty of better explayions online.
