You’ll Be Able To Add Nintendo Switch Friends Via Social Media And Other Methods Post Launch

We recently reported that adding friends on your Nintendo Switch would require friend codes; much to many fans’ dismay. However you can now be rest assured that adding friends through social media and other methods is on its way via an update after launch. The following statement comes directly from Nintendo:

  • Several methods can be used to add friends as quickly and easily as possible: · By linking Nintendo Switch to your Nintendo Account, your friends from Miitomo and Super Mario Run will appear as friend candidates so you can easily send them a friend request. Also, we are planning it so that friends from social networking services will be listed as candidates, too.
  • In the future, you will be able to send a friend request to friends associated with your NNID (Wii U/Miiverse) and Nintendo 3DS.
  • In some games you will be able to use an in-game interface to send friend requests.
  • You can send friend requests to those who have played with you recently.
  • You can establish a friend through local wireless communication.
  • You can also send a friend request by using a friend code.

  1. Oh look, tons of ways to add friends. Weird that the one trough the NNID isn’t available yet though…

  2. That’s a relief. Sounds pretty easy to expand your friend list. I had little hope Nintendo would improve in this aspect, but apparently I was wrong.

  3. *Be Rest Assured? * Is the writer if this article Nigerian? We’re the only ones I can think of that use “rest assured” with a “be” in front of it

  4. how on gods earth is this news STOP CLICKBAITING GROW UP

    WE KNOW THIS ALREADY FOR JESUES SAKE STOP THE BAITIMNG FREINDS CODES WITCH WE ALL KNOW ARE A TEMP MESURE NOW YOUR STATING THE BLINKING OBVIOUS

  5. Believe me Nintendo, no one in their right mind is gonna use friend codes to add each other- it’s obsolete, and just a pain in the ass.

    Less than 4 hours to go in my time zone.

  6. King Kalas X3 {Greatness Awaits at Sony PlayStation 4! Hopefully it will also await us at Nintendo Switch if Nintendo doesn't FUCK things up again!}

    That’s good to hear. Now if they’d just get rid of that bullshit about sharing friend codes and usernames on other systems on Miiverse so I can tell anyone I’m friends with on Wii U & 3DS while in Miiverse how to find me on Switch when & if they get one.
