Have you wondered how many times a Nintendo Switch can be dropped from 5ft before it breaks? If you have then you’re in luck as GizmoSlip have conducted a ‘drop test’ with Nintendo’s new console. They perform the test by dropping the console from 5ft onto concrete which results in some cringe-worthy viewing. You can check out the video below:
The Nintendo Switch survives a total of 11 drops before dying and can no longer be powered up.
he called link zelda. casuals.
I actually thought the screen would break after the first fall it definitely does not feel that sturdy im happy to see it’s been well designed to withstand falls
I seem to remember reading that Iwata himself done this test with the first nintendo DS systems fresh from the production line, and a few of them broke very quickly. He said, something like, because he knew kids would be playing it out and about he wasn’t going to be happy releasing a portable console until it could survive 5-10 drops, and made sure they were made sturdier before releasing them.
I seem to remember there being a thing (Iwata asks? I cannot remember source) where Nintendo designs all their products to survive quite a few falls from the height of a chest pocket specifically.
Pretty much what they’re testing for here, though maybe the japanese chests might not stand as high up from the ground.
This hurts so much on the inside.
Hey shit head, how about I drop you and see how long it takes before you break? You’re a lot bigger than a Switch so instead of five feet lets say five stories.
Obviously not directed at NintenMau5
It’s definitely something I’ve wondered (And no. Can’t bring myself to watch the video…yet). Because the last thing I need to worry about is being out 300 dollars and then some for repairs or worse, a new system.
I’m definitely sticking to avoiding-dropping-the-system duty for as long as I play it as a portable, With reassurance that it won’t die at one drop. Or maybe two. Risky at a third drop.
Not watching the video. If it was a video showing the demolition of a Wii U, on the other hand. Anyway, good to know but that doesn’t mean I’m gonna not be careful with mine. @.@
