The Switch’s Joy-Cons Can Be Used With A PC, Mac & Android

Gamers have been gradually discovering that the Nintendo Switch‘s controllers, including the Joy-Cons, can be used for other devices too. In fact, people have discovered that button mapping apps like JoyToKey can enable the Joy-Con accessories to be used as BlueTooth controllers on Mac and PC. If that’s not enough, you can also pair them natively with Android phones. However, you may deal with some lag issues that can cause some games to be unplayable, so be careful.

    1. Someone can correct me who knows better, but I am pretty sure there was android related talk early with the “NX” and it using an operating system or something that was in line with android to some degree. If so I read it here ao article probably can be found with a search.

        1. Yea I remember those rumors, too. I wonder why it’s natively supported by Android though. Is there some open source controller driver that both the Switch and Android somehow use?

    2. No, it is NOT running Android. I’ve seen rumors of it running on a modified FreeBSD (OS based on Linux), which the PS4 also does (as in, it uses a modified version of it too), but whatever the case is, it’s their own OS that’s rather closer to a computer’s.

Oh dear. When the general public discovers this, Switch Joy-Cons will not always sell because someone wanted extra ones for their Switch but because they want to use them with their PC for gaming or their Android phone for gaming.
