Update: Famitsu says on its own website that the Nintendo Switch system sold over 30,000 units in its first three days on sale.
Sales data on the Nintendo Switch has begun to trickle in. Overall it has been a slight improvement over the Wii U’s sales, and North America seems to be the console’s most popular region. Now, data from Famitsu that has been relayed on Twitter has confirmed that the Switch sold 313,700 in its first week. To be more exact, that first week includes the first 3 days that the Switch was available, March 3rd, 4th and 5th. It’s very likely that we will be getting a better idea on how well the console is doing in the coming weeks and months, but so far the Switch seems to be pulling in better numbers than the Wii U. In Japan, the Switch’s opening week sales also surpassed the Gamecube’s. We’ve included the relayed tweets down below, so feel free to check them out.

It hasn’t been a week yet…
So it sold 313k in 3 days, not a week
Well, looks like it reach a maximum sells like the PS4.
It hasn’t even been half a week when this data came in.

The Gamecube is probably Nintendo’s most underrated console ever. SO great, yet SO many people crapped on it.
it had a handle!
||It had me, period…||
The handle was one of it’s great features. In fact, the Gamecube had, quite possibly, my favorite design of any Nintendo console. It was SO cute. It also had the most appropriate name. And one of the best controllers.
It was an interesting console but it unfortunately had an abortion for a controller. Those spring-loaded shoulder buttons are such a joke.
Are you joking? The GameCube controller is often regarded as the best controller ever made, and the mechanical shoulder buttons were very popular.
I’m not a critic, just a gamer. I think the controller is garbage.

313,700 copies in just 3 days??? Wow…..to the people who said it would be DOA….TAKE THAT :P
||They will all be destroyed for their insolence…||
Paid, I’m one of those who got thrilled whit Wii U’s start. And we all are aware what happened to it.
I hope the Switch turns out to be a success, don’t get me wrong.
Well, looks like it reach a maximum sells like the PS4.
Launch sales are good. But let’s see how they perform. Good thing is, Nintendo have set the stage for a great E3 this year and might have also done the same for a strong holiday. They have also set the bar really high for software, as many developers know they might, at some point, beat the quality of the launch software and FAS RMX and BOTW are so good, Debs would have to put off something amazing to top that.
All in all, it’s good news. But I won’t get excited until I see if they can sustain the momentum
Most of triple A publishers are waiting to see how Skyrim performs.
It is kinda sad that the fate of support is once again on a port of a old game.
Though I do have a funny feeling that it might sell fairly well, at least better than what Mass Effect 3 did on Wii U.
No, they’re not stupid. If it sells badly, they can use the poor sales as an excuse, but ultimately it’s all about whether they think th
…ey can make a profit.
For proper use of this comment, Debs is Devs. My auto-correct pretty much f***ed things up yeah

Guys is this true? technical problems with Switch?
Yeah I’ve heard about some of those issues. I don’t know if these problems are exceptional circumstances though or a common occurrence. Hopefully in the future, we can get some data on the percentage of defected consoles. All I can say is I’m glad I decided to wait until the end of the year to get one.
This is sad for him. But technical problems are always expected in few units.
I’m sure he’s covered by warranty and will have his problem solved.
The blue and orange screen is concerning. But please keep in mind that it’s a huge launch and most of these I have seen on several Sony Z5 flagships I bought one year ago too. But I guess no on was interested in those individual cases. It was actually quiet easy to repair. Took 15 minutes. But warranty is also securing everyone. Mobile devices are also easily damaged during shipments, which was actually the case wih my 4 units. But yeah I have a 4 year warranty for my Switch and no issues until now.
What exactly did I just saw?. Does he has some problems with his console?. You see, this is why I do that have it yet because I’m gonna wait in April just in case. When the console is launched people expecting some problems with it.

You know, this is really good news for third party companies who were waiting to see how well the Switch sold before making games on the Switch. LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
I honestly feel that the people who bash on this can’t move past the NES and SNES days. This is great.
Actually it sold 330.637 units in Japan according to famitsu

Also it sold 105.000 units in France, according to that biased scum known as ZhugeEx
