DotEmu, developer and publisher specializing in modern releases of beloved retro games, and Lizardcube, are thrilled to announce that Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap will be available on April 18th for the PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch (and a few weeks after on PC).
Boasting beautiful, hand-drawn animations and a re-orchestrated soundtrack, the cult classic returns with a unique blend of exploration, action, and adventure. Play as Lizard-Man, Mouse-Man, Piranha-Man, Lion-Man, and Hawk-Man, and use their unique abilities to uncover the land’s deepest secrets. Switch in real-time between the original retro graphics and the visually stunning modern remake, and input your old Sega Master System passcode to unlock all of your old saves and progression – just how you left them in 1989.

Stay tuned, a last surprise will be announced on March 22nd!
Cool, used to love both Wonder Boy and Adventure Island games back in the 80’s and 90’s.
A piece of the history of video games for those who don’t know it yet — hope you enjoy.
I wonder what the the surprise is.
I’ve been looking forward to this like crazy. Cannot wait for this!
I let out a sigh of relief at the end when I saw it was not a switch exclusive looks like I’ll get to play it after all!
Now THIS makes me happy. But, I’ll always think of this as Adventure Island (one of my favorite retro series). But they’re all so hard that I don’t think I ever completed any of the NES games without the Game Genie.
I always wondered why that voice on the title screen of Super Adventure Island 2 sounded like it said “This is Adventure Island 2”, instead of SUPER Adventure Island 2?
Are these guys crazy? They think Super Adventure Island II SUCKS? That game was totally AWESOME! Some people have crappy taste.
Ok then that will be my next game on… Pc. Shame it is not on wii u lol. Anyway have been waiting for that game more than Zelda. I am really excited about it. The nexthe game will be psychofox then I will be a very happy gamer :-)
Quality indie, well-crafted. Though looks boring, probably skipping this (Shovel Knight looks better). Anyway happy there is quality indie too inside the Nintendo Switch.

I truly loved this game, it was a love letter to the platforming games of ages past, and didn’t mince the difficulty by adding modern game mechanics to hold your hand. I wrote a blog post on it on my WordPress site Nerd Speaker – wonder if you agree with me? https://nerdspeaker.com/2017/04/30/wonder-boy-the-dragons-trap-confounded-me-and-i-love-it/
