Video: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild NPC May Resemble The Late Satoru Iwata

Fans, gamers, enthusiasts, journalists and pretty much anyone else who knew about Nintendo’s much-loved late president Satoru Iwata were saddened by his death in 2015. Sean Buckley, who has shared a video (which I’ve included below) to his YouTube channel, explains that an NPC strikes an astonishing resemblance to Iwata in the early part of the game.

Around the outskirts of one the first stables players encounter in the game is an NPC that goes by the name of Botrick. He sells items to you which are often cheaper than if you were to purchase them from the in-game merchant Beedle. There’s no denying that the look of Botrick is particularly familiar and Sean does a good job of comparing him to Mr Iwata. Check it out for yourself below:

      1. I never know with comment sections. It’s all part of the fun! By the way – add me on Twitter :) @NintenMau5_MNN

  1. Iwata will always be remembered. We will not forget.
    Leave Luck to Heaven… .

Now that Iwata San is watching from the clouds, perhaps Nintendo’s luck can change

    1. not so much “supposed to” but rather fans were calling out for one (so much that a petition was made and reached the goal of having a tribute to him)… Nintendo commented on it, but it was simple PR talk that offered zero insight into whether or not they would have put him in

  2. “Cheaper than Beedle.” Why am I not surprised. I HATE Beedle as much as Tingle. Maybe more. Ridiculous prices in Wind Waker if I remember correctly. Never liked him. Plus, he is one ugly dude.

    1. Oi now, looks aren’t everything… The fact that Beedle insists on say “OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH” all the time is really the main issue I have…

It wouldn’t be so bad if he was giving us deals or a reward for buying a certain amount of times like in Wind Waker but he doesn’t so I don’t buy shit from him. Of course, I haven’t bought anything from the other merchants, either. I might buy an item from someone at some point for an electric fish for a certain side quest in the game if I don’t come across it myself before I find a merchant. Maybe I should just use the internet to find out where I can find an electric fish so I can hurry up with the damn side quest.

      1. Only thing I really buy so far is armor. And it’s expensive. But not buying a thing from Needle. He keeps asking me to trade for a beedle out beetle. I’m like “nope. Because you want it, I’m not trading it to you. Douchebag.”

        ||So you bought a Switch after all, or did you get the Wii U version?…||

Bought the Switch. Sold my Wii U, every physical Wii U & Wii game, & a few PS4 games I got digital so didn’t need the physical copies anymore. Oh & one or two 3DS games I no longer needed.

Where is said tree? Or is it something I’ll come across with ease as it’s in an area I have to go to for story or shrine purposes?
