While not a problem for everyone, some Switch owners have been having trouble with their left Joy-Con desyncing with the console during gameplay. Recognising the issue, CNET did a bit of detective work and took photos inside the Joy-Con before they sent it off to Nintendo to be fixed. Nintendo has yet to publically address the cause of the problem, but it seems a tiny piece of foam placed inside the controller is enough to solve it. When CNET opened the repaired Joy-Con they found the only difference was a tiny bit of sponge next to the sensor. This certainly makes it seem like it was a hardware error causing the issue. Check out the pictures below and spot the difference.
Very interesting… and easy to solve now if someone wants to try that themselves.
I thought the sponge was the big rectangular white one on the left, but when I looked at it again it turned out to be the very tiny black sponge around the bottom right of the controller! I haven’t had any de-syncing problems, but if it does happen I will most certainly try this.
I’m so glad they fixed this.
its been known for awhile that its that giant metal box thats been fucking the signal
I already solved it with this and it works even better than the right one :)

Nice to see them address the issue. Shouldn’t be any more problems from here on out.
Thankfully I haven’t had this problem or any other. So far my switch has been working perfectly except for one minor thing that happened last night. I reset one of my amiibos on the Wii U and gave it a new owner mii so that I could transfer him to my switch but the switch detected no data on said amiibo. It hasn’t had any problems reading my old amiibo data on the other ones but for some reason when I make new data with the Wii U it won’t read it. I tried with 2 yarn yoshi’s and an 8-bit mario amiibo to no avail…
Nice.
Spot the difference…
Just as an aside, the sponge they used was speculated to be a special conductive sponge. They think it may be filtering out interference.
so can we send left joycon in to be fixed?
Yes. Call Nintendo.
Now if only they could solve the Switch shortage.

were you able to snag one commander?

Just like a true commander so promising such a demander

Not another video from a hater , can’t stand the Switch’s success what a faker
Fuck that. I’d rather receive a joycon that works without modification.
Perhaps, normal working joy-cons actually have the sponge inside it, but the defective ones are without it? So, regardless, you will have a joy-con with a sponge in it, if you want it to work properly.
I only ever have sync issues when the batteries get low in my Joy-Cons.
