Zelda: Breath Of The Wild is enjoying a monumental success worldwide and it’s recently come to light that it is also helping Wii U sales at GameStop too. Eric Bright, GameStop’s senior director of merchandising, recently spoke to Game Rant and explained that the new title in the Zelda series has prompted a sharp rise in the amount of pre-owned Wii U hardware being sold:
“With The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild coming out, we’re seeing great results in our pre-owned Wii U sales. We’re selling a lot of pre-owned Wii U consoles along with brand new Wii U copies of Zelda. Breath of the Wild has reinvigorated sales of the Wii U with Nintendo Switch being sold out at so many retailers. The Switch launching and Zelda launching completely racked up the Wii U market.”
With the Nintendo Switch suffering from stock shortages around the globe, consumers may be having no choice but to enjoy Breath Of The Wild on Nintendo’s previous home console. Either way, at least fans have the option available.

Honestly, they don’t deserve those fucking pennies! They are the biggest reason the Wii U sunk like the Titanic, after all… So no. Not a sad thing… at all.
My friend just got a Wii U yesterday for Breath of the Wild. Funny thing is, he only got it for one game, but then he got really hyped as it dawned on him that now he can now play Bayonetta, Wonderful 101, Wind Waker HD, Twilight Princess HD, Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Partners in Time, Link to the Past, etc.
Yep. WiiU is kinda like Game Cube. Low sales, awesome games.

It’s sad – kinda like great painters. A lot of people aren’t interested until they’re dead. While the Wii-U didn’t get a lot of love, it has some of the best games out there. Nintendo was always #3 as far as consoles go and IMHO, Nintendo games are #1.
Understandable. Botw is a phenomenal game. It’s a game that had so much hype and ended up delivering on its hype ten times over.

The game runs like a swift sweet dream on Wii U. I’ve had no issue yet.
Same. I think once word got out that:
A. You don’t need a switch to play it.
B. It runs really, really well on the WiiU.
Makes sense people wanted a used WiiU.
I have the Link Amiibo that gives you Epona and Twilight gear. But I only have one.
Should I open and enjoy it, sell it for $70 or keep it unopened as a collector’s item?

Any singular sale Gamestop makes now is a spike in sales. That retailer is a walking rotting corpse just waiting to be put out of it’s misery.
Now think what if BotW was the Wii U’s exclusive it was originally meant to be? It is the true killer app the platform always needed….
As for me? Literally just got out of a long session of BotW myself on my own Wii U which I’ve owned first hand for years now.

i bought a switch even though i have a wii u because i dont want to buy it for a dead system… play it and never play it again and good thing i did. i have 70 hours into and i only half way though (or at least i think i am) thats a new record for a single player game for me. i will be playing a lot more over the years
You have to try out Xenoblade to easily surpass those hours.
