  1. Given both its popularity and the fact that it pretty much saved a dying video game, or at the very least arcade gaming industry from extinction, I think Donkey Kong deserves to win.

    1. King Kalas X3 {Greatness Awaits at Sony PlayStation 4! Please, Nintendo! Blow me off of the fence at E3 onto your side so I can say the same for Switch, too!}

      From what I recall, that game saved the entire video game industry as a whole. So yeah. It definitely deserves to be in a hall of fame. In fact, it’s about damn time!

    1. Uhhh no it didn’t! You had to be there when it released to understand its impact. There was NOTHING else like it on the market at the time and the fact that you could rip someone’s head off was inconceivable. It made headlines on every news channel and it was all we talked abou to in school. We used to all meet up at the local arcade and have tournaments for hours and hours. It was honestly bigger than Pokémon go at the time. In fact it dwarfed Pokémon go.

              1. Lol, I’m literally just trolling you right now. I’m sure it was a great game in its time, its just not my type of game, and playing it nowadays really feels crappy.

                  1. Yeah, i agree the series has grown a lot since and become something that a lot of people really enjoy. Personally I’m fairly sensitive to gore and stuff, so i could never play it.

        1. Yea I remember this one. I actually used to like this game, I used to play it all the time. Then mortal kombat happened and this game was a memory…. Both games are really hard to play today, but back then they were the shit. Lol

      LMAOSHMSFO is right. Solitaire & Minesweeper were the shit on computer before all of these MMOs, flash games, & mobile games also available on PC came along. Of course, Solitaire has fared better than Minesweeper since there have been clones of it. Like the 3D Solitaire game I got on my 3DS, for instance.

    1. I mean this is only the third year that these awards have been given out. So Zelda was among the first 10 games to be inducted into the Video Game Hall of Fame. That seems pretty reasonable to me.

  2. Nintendo First Order Commander Quadraxis

    ||Donkey Kong should have been one If the top 3 to begin with, it single-handedly revived our world…||

      If not for Donkey Kong, we wouldn’t have a video game industry today. So yeah. It definitely should have been in way fucking sooner!

  3. If I had to pick a few, Donkey Kong would easily top the list. Donkey Kong gave Nintendo a foothold in North America which led to the NES playing a huge role in saving a dying industry.

    Pokemon Red and Green comes in second for revolutionary gameplay, spawning a worldwide phenomenon, and starting a multi-billion dollar franchise. There aren’t many people who haven’t heard of Pokemon.

    Finally (not in a particular order) Halo for revolutionizing First Person Shooters, Resident Evil for basically defining the Survival Horror genre, and FFVII for popularizing JRPGs worldwide.

  4. I think Donkey Kong is overrated honestly. Yea, it was popular, but boring as hell. I remember when it released, me and all my friends really hated that game. If you went to a local arcade you always saw the Donkey Kong machine all by itself with nobody playing it. It still deserves a spot in the hall of fame because of its popularity but the game was really short and boring af.

      Not just popularity but for saving the video game industry. We wouldn’t even have video games today, nor games on PC, console, or phone period. Least not in the state it is now, anyway.

    Why wasn’t Donkey Kong, the game to save the video game industry & allowed us to even have video games, PC games, & mobile games, in there sooner!?

    And what’s with all the hate for Solitaire on Windows!? D: That was one of the things to have fun with back in the day before we had all this other snazzy stuff on computers.
