As Nintendo gets the word out about the release of their new console, the company is also hard at work with updating the Nintendo Switch‘s firmware. In fact, the firmware has just been updated to version 2.1.0. If you were expecting any new features in this update, however, that wasn’t on Nintendo’s to-do list for the time being. The only changes that Nintendo says were made were “general system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience”. In other words, this update was just for polishing the firmware.
Great to hear stability updates will continue onto the Switch
It’s not a stability update. They only removed security holes like that browser exploit! They always try to sell it as if it “enhances the user’s experience”, but it doesn’t and often is the contrary!
i don’t trust it… might block exploits :/
And that’s a bad thing?
If you want to use internet or a nice streaming service while still on the Switch, hell yes it is! If Nintendo didn’t want these used as exploits, they should have had this shit ready on day 1.
Just as with Wii u, have not had any stability issues with muh Switch.
iirc there’s a memory leak issue on the previous firmware that was preventing some games from performing optimally.
Perhaps it’s a step towards fixing Joy-Con synchronization?
No. That’s a hardware issue that they’re fixing for free. If anyone has any issues, they just report it to Nintendo, send their Joy-Cons in, and then they’re repaired (supposedly) within a week.
Hardware issue, pfft. I bet it went down like this at Nintendo.
Evil Greedy Nintendo Guy 1: “We need to manipulate people that only got 1 player games into buying extra Joy-Cons and/or a Pro Controller!”
Evil Greedy Nintendo Guy 2: “I know! Let’s pretend the syncing issue people have been having is a hardware issue so they have to send in their Joy-Con that came in with the system. They’ll buy another controller to keep playing while we fix the original.”
Evil Greedy Nintendo Guy 1: “BRILLIANT!!! Get on that ASAP! Oh & let’s not call it a design flaw, while we’re at it. Let’s call it a design variation! We don’t want them to think we failed or planned this.”
No. It’s also not a syncing issue. It has to do with a damaged antenna that struggles to maintain high quality connection. The controller is synced and on the whole time.
Also, if you own a Switch, and don’t have a Pro Controller, I don’t know what you’re doing with your life. It’s glorious. The only complaints I’ve heard from people that generally don’t play Nintendo is that the L-, R-, ZL-, and ZR-buttons aren’t analog. Other than that, they think its as good as, if not better, than equivalently priced Xbox controllers, and somewhat lower priced PlayStation controllers.
I’d like to mention that I do recognize that you seem to be trolling, and I’m not necessarily providing this information for you, but rather for other people reading this comments.
All attempts at comedy aside right now, I don’t need a Pro Controller because my Joy-Cons work fine as is right now. They only cause me trouble when they haven’t been hooked to the Switch after long periods of time. The grip thingy makes using them not as much of an issue buttons wise since I got that little bump pushing my palm away which allows my thumb & fingers to stretch. The straps, on the other hand, are total shit & need to be redesigned to be similar to the grip which has that bump thingy that all traditional controllers have.
I mean, the straps aren’t made to do that, they’re made to keep you from losing the controller while using motion controls and help you to those tiny SL- and SR-buttons. They could easily release an updated strap, but I don’t mind the ones I have now, my friends and I have had no issues with them in playing 1-2 Switch, and I’ve had no issues with them while testing them on PC.
Sweet, sweet stability. Mmmmmmm….
You hate homebrew, don’t you.
where did he say that…
You know “stability” is what they say when they’re trying to ironwall hackers out, right?
or what they say to iron out bugs…
Maybe.
Do we know if this build fixes the GPU draw bug?
Does it do anything noticeable? It does seem faster
Hope they fixed the video stuttering on eShop because it’s the only problem I got (and one system freeze in all sincerity).
idk if i’m the only one that noticed this, but yesterday i noticed that zelda was running a lot smoother on my switch.
I wonder if it fixed that “constantly searching for wi-fi” thing?
still can’t beat the stability of the 3ds
Stability. Yeah. Sure. Nintendo & their alternative words. For example: Design variation instead of design flaw WHICH IS WHAT IT FUCKING WAS!! Or it’s an outright lie & it’s just an excuse to not fix it on a software level so they can get some of us to buy an extra controller while we send in our original one from the box to be “fixed.”
I haven’t noticed any changes on my Switch, though. I’m so sick of seeing firmware updates with no big changes from Nintendo. Least every system update the PS4 has gotten while I’ve had mine so far has been an actual big fucking update with some substantial, and noticeable, changes.
