Famous for the development of Kirby and Super Smash Bros, HAL Laboratory is one of best known of Nintendo’s affiliate companies. While they aren’t traditionally known for helping develop Nintendo’s consoles, it seems they worked on several key parts of the Switch’s UI. HAL helped Nintendo by developing the system’s Mii Maker and the web browser, as well as certain development tools. The developer recently released a picture of the 32 staff members who helped with the Switch. It’s nice to see HAL helping out Nintendo once again, the company being a long time ally of the developer.
“web browser” there is a web browser?
||It will be activated in the near future…||
I hope its as good as the wii U web browser
||Or better…||
Bizarrely, the Wii U browser was best at launch. It seemed to get slower and buggier with each new update.
||Yes, now that you mention it, it was rather slower after some updates…||
Ughhh they are talking about the basic browser used to technical support. They have no real browser, but Nintendo well go third party as usual. It well probably be opera or edge. But they may go with a smaller company like they did with wii U.
HAL in no way created a real web browser, commander your so naïve. So eager to defend nintendo that you start making up stuff.
||The foolish child is none other than you since I never even implied or mentioned that HAL Laboratories created a real web browser nor do I care as I leave that to the scientists…||
The 3DS’s web browser isn’t any better. It was great but has slowly gotten worse over the years. I’m worried Nintendo is tampering with it to make it safe for children to use. *right eye twitch*

Yea where is this web browser that they speak of
So where can I find the Switch’s HAL Room?
}{ Well… HAL-leluja… }{
lol at germophobe in the back
He might have had a cold and didn’t want to spread it.
There aren’t many features… Very disappointed at how bare it is.
I can’t think about HAL Laboratory without thinking about the late Satoru Iwata. It’s like Iwata’s soul is inside the Switch. Especially since he had a huge role in the making of the Switch. At least during the early stages of development.
Satory Iwata’s Cradle
And yet no Kirby avatar.
I’ll be OK if we get an anniversary Kirby game for the switch
I think there are no Kirby icons because Kirby is 2nd-party (like Pokemon and the MOTHER series- notice the lack of Pokemon and MOTHER icons as well). Nintendo doesn’t fully own those characters, and so can’t use them, whereas they can use characters like Mario, Link, Zelda, Fox McCloud, Samus, Inklings, and Donkey Kong all they want because they own them.
It’s the same reason you never see Kirby, Pokemon, or MOTHER microgames in the WarioWare series.
Ah, OK. Do you think we’Lloyd every see an expanded avatar Selection?
Hopefully it won’t be too long until they have a game on Switch. I imagine something for Kirby’s anniversary.
Personally I wish they’d take up Kid Icarus as well. They’d be perfect if Sakurai isn’t going to make another.
I was completely disappointed that Nonspecific Action Figure was nowhere to be seem in the Switch launch or UI. :P
Pretty sure they may have helped with 3D on the 3ds too? Or atleast I think they worked on that 3D face game that came with the system.
No wonder Mii Maker isn’t as trashy as it was on Wii & Wii U with limited colors for hair & eyes! Leave it to a 3rd or 2nd party to do better than what Nintendo does with customization options. Now if only they were allowed to give us more dye colors in Breath of the Wild. I’ll take a dye that turns my Soldier Armor set’s metal gold while turning the cloth either royal purple or bright red. Better yet. How about some free DLC that gives us a Royal Armor set for Link with the metal parts already gold!?
