Nintendo Milks A Real Cow To Promote 1-2-Switch

Billings Farm and Museum in Woodstock, Vermont recently challenged Nintendo to learn how to milk a real cow and to play against them in Milk – one of the 28 minigames that are part of 1-2-Switch on Nintendo Switch. As its name implies, Milk challenges you to squeeze your way to victory as you try to fill more cups of milk than your opponent before the time runs out. The animal rights organization PETA compiled a lengthy letter last week to condemn this minigame. Check out the video below to see some footage of a couple Nintendo staff milk a real cow:

    1. I was about to joke about the exact same thing. Remember though, some farmer guy invited them to milk a cow (it was on this site a few weeks back even), THEN the Peta stuff happened

    2. I think they actually did this before they received the letter, but yeah. Peta complains about milking virtual cows, so Nintendo milks some real cows instead.

  1. Always cute to see people believing that it makes them look tough when they mock organisations like Peta. Quite the opposite is true. The lack of empathy among humans is sickening sometimes. Whoever believes that the way the industry treats animals is OK should maybe actually watch some of the footage organisations like Peta have captured but most people probably aren’t even brave enough for that. They prefer to keep deluding themselvels and laugh about Peta on the internet. I am thankful that organisations like Peta exist. It takes courage to do what they do. None of you haters would have the courage for that just like you wouldn’t have the courage to kill the animals you eat by yourself. You conveniently go to the supermarket. Bravo warrior! We live in a world where most people just follow the mainstream opinion out of convenience, refusing to question things. Peta want people to get aware of the insanity that is the meat industry and they use every single chance they can to get the message to as many people as possible. People these days even deny science and say that climate change is a hoax. We live in a world where maniacs like Trump create their alternate universe built on lies. The lack of compassion and empathy is starting to get more and more visible in our daily lifes. All this stuff starts when people start to look away because they are too afraid to question things and get too convenient to stand up and fight against injustice. I deeply respect everyone who has more courage than that.

    1. Well made arguement. And you are right! I am too afraid to kill the animals myself, so I don’t. Now I do believe the animals should be treated better, but I’m still gonna eat meat though. Why? Well, I like meat. I think it tastes good, and I have no problem with it. So while I do think what PETA is doing is a noble act, I also think that their request for Nintendo is completely stupid. They want Nintendo to insert horrid sounds into the minigame, but it’s for kids. So that’s not gonna happen. Let them learn when they’re older.

That’s stupid and ignorant.

      1. I hear you man. I don’t blame anyone who decides to eat meat. My daughter eats meat too. Not at home when we cook but when she is with the grandparents, friends etc. It’s up to her to decide not me. As soon as she’s old enough to make a rational decision she will do that and I will accept it. I just think that people should have the courage to take a look at where their food is actually coming from, to make reflected decisions. Peta just wants the media attention here and there is nothing wrong with that in my book. I for one have zero problems with them ‘criticising’ Nintendo even though I am a huge fan. It’s actually not that much about Nintendo. I play Breath of the Wild currently. I even started to hunt a bit because…it’s s a videogame at the end of the day. Peta don’t want to attack Nintendo per se. They want that humans start to reflect more about the treatment of animals. Their abuse is deeply rooted in our lifestyle by now and few even question that. They want to make people aware of their miserable situation whenever they can. And sometimes people can even be reminded about that when playing a videogame. Of course that can be annoying. But I think that it’s important nonetheless.

        1. Exactly! It’s a game! That was the point I first made when PETA sent its response. The real thing is terrible, but 1 2 Switch is a game. Thank you for understanding.

      1. You must be very naive if you believe in conspiracy theories. I am a member of Peta and multiple other animal right organisations for over 20 years. While I don’t agree with everything they do they cleary do a great job at the end of the day.

        1. So every reported felony members of PETA have committed is nothing more than a conspiracy theory? Ingrid Newkirk’s last will and testament is a conspiracy theory? Kidnapping pets is a conspiracy theory? Taking bodies of dead animals and putting them into dumpsters, is a conspiracy theory?

          I agree with SpaceDork. You are brainwashed. Provide to me proof negative allegations against PETA are nothing more than conspiracy theories without cherry-picking a bunch of positive stories about the “good” they do in the world, then maybe, just maybe, I will consider taking you seriously and actually consider conceding to your point.

  4. I hesitate to get into a political argument, but PETA IS ridiculous. Attacking a cow milking minigame? How petty and useless is that? I mean, protesting factory dairy farms is one thing, but people have been milking cows quite symbiotically for thousands of years. You’re picking the wrong battles, as usual, PETA. Take a hike.

  5. King Kalas X3 {Greatness Awaits at Sony PlayStation 4! Please, Nintendo! Blow me off of the fence at E3 onto your side so I can say the same for Switch, too!}

    Take that, PETA! Here’s something extra for ya, too!
