Here’s Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Download Size

Many of you are looking forward to Mario Kart Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch but will no doubt be wondering just how much space it will take up on your system. Well, Amazon Germany has revealed that it’s a 6.75GB download so you shouldn’t have to make up too much room, especially if you have a microSD card for your system.

  1. But boohoo…. I already bought this game for another platform and even though with all the DLC included which cost $80 plus, getting all of that now and additional content for the price of a regular game, about $60 is just too much and now I am going to cry about it….

Crying or not, it doesn’t change the fact 60 bucks for what some of us spent 80 bucks on is too much for an old game with very little new content where said new content is only worth 15 bucks at the least & 20 at the most. So not worth another 60 bucks.

      1. It isn’t worth another if you don’t want to play with others on the switch or handheld if you have it, but for the majority of people who bought Mario Kart for Wii and didn’t get the WiiU and for those that are new gamers, this was great that they were able to get a new MK up to speed for the new console. Doesn’t eliminate possible DLC with new content and I have not seen or played the game to know that the new stuff is “very little” or doesn’t enhance the game that much. 60 bucks isn’t that much when all is said and done and it is a great game on a new system with $80 worth of content now only 60, so it is cheaper…

Whatever. Enjoy paying 60 bucks again.

  2. For those who have a 128GB MicroSD XC Memory Card (or higher), now could be the time to pre-purchase it immediately.

      1. Are you seriously arguing Wii U was a good console? Sure it had some great games (Like any console) but Wii U was a fkn nightmare and arguably one of Nintendo’s biggest mistakes. Cmon, don’t be that guy.

        1. That guy? You mean guy with a sense of perspective? Yes, the Wii U was a failure, that doesn’t mean that it’s because the system itself was bad. It was positioned poorly with the other systems, it wasn’t marketed in a way that people understood what it was (worked at Gamestop during the launch. Nobody had any idea what it was or that it wasn’t a Wii accessory). They had no major games lined up for AGES after release. None of these have anything to do with the console’s quality in and of itself.

Take the Dreamcast as a point of comparison. It was a great console. It also killed Sega. Quality in a vaccuum is not the same as commercially successful.

          1. You literally just listed all negatives towards the console. Sorry, had the Wii U since launch and will never look back and say “Hey, remember how good the Wii U was?” Sure the concept was cool, but marketing is everything. Just the fact people STILL don’t know what the Wii U is rather embarrassing.

        1. I like it. I like the gamepad, I like what it could have been if it was released a few years earlier and had different architecture and a better OS from the start. Thing was slow as hell to begin with.

Some good games. Not a bad console, just some bad planning.

          1. Some bad planning? Fuckin horrible planning… I loved my Wii U but even I’m not blind to see that the damn console was an atrocious nightmare for Nintendo

            1. bad, horrible, these are all synonyms. WE can get into the name, the marketing and the timing and then afterwards the lack of games which in retrospect was due to them pulling the plug on the console and going all in on the switch (maybe even before the Wii U released?) and yeah, the result was horrible. The console itself, it could have been good. It really only released 6 years after the Wii, but you could have had it come out a year earlier and just been the Wii HD and it would have made more sense. Something didn’t jive though so they killed it.

It was bad, but it wasn’t a brand killer

              1. King Kalas X3 {Greatness Awaits at Sony PlayStation 4! Please, Nintendo! Blow me off of the fence at E3 onto your side so I can say the same for Switch, too!}

Wii U wasn’t a brand killer by any stretch of the imagination. But it damn sure was a faith & trust killer for some of us! Wii wasn’t any better but it wasn’t enough to fully push me over the edge. In fact, it got lucky with me as I was pretty busy with an online site that I made a ton of friends on & spent a lot of time with. That & Netflix was a nice app that gave me a lot to do with Wii when the games I was interested in were lacking on the console. Anyway, Switch has a long way to go to win back those things from me. And it won’t be through sales, either, since great sales didn’t make me enjoy my Wii any more or less than it already did. Not to say I won’t be happy by seeing good sales for Switch but I’m sure you get the point.

          2. At one point I’d love to give Nintendo’s marketing team a slap. “Wii U” “New 3DS”… My 10 year old cousin could have came up with something better. However, I had my fun with the console but nothing else comes to mind than failure when I think of the Wii U.

      2. Yeah I had one. It was a crap console.

Slow, Buggy, that stupid TV icon that never worked once in the EU, underpowered for the price, under supported and every time I wanted to play, the stupid screen was out of charge.

A few nuggets of gaming gold does not make a console good, that is testament to the genius of the software developers. Smash bros, best version on the Wii U because you could use GC controller not the wii u hardware.

Oh. My. God. Something me & N64EVER can agree on. I take back the Nintendo fanboy comment I directed at him. I’ll just chalk our argument over Breath of the Wild up to him being a Zelda fanboy & me being the Zelda fan. Anyways…

Wii U was totally a crappy console. To think some people will put Wii U on the same pedestal as Gamecube will sicken me for many years to come. *sigh* Oh well. To each his/her own.

    1. But it is portable and with all the DLC from the previous game and added content it is actually cheaper. Why would a game cost less (which it does) or rather why should you get a discount because you bought it on another platform? It doesn’t make any sense. Like if you bought a game on PS3 that was rereleased on PS4, especially a main exclusive title, should you get it for free or half off what they are selling just because you bought it before?

      1. It does make sense. I have the game & DLC. Cost me money. Can’t transfer over save file data. Now have to start from scratch. Yes, it’s great there’s new content, but that new content (plus restarting over) is not worth full price admission. Think about it. You’re basically paying full price for what amounts to another DLC.
And yes, we would expect a PS3 owned game to be free or half off on PS4. But it’s not. Hence why I & many others don’t buy the same game again. It’s also why I won’t be getting this game. I already own it on WiiU. The extras just aren’t worth the price they charge for it.

And portable? So? I’ve gone this long not playing Mario Kart 8 as portable. Doubt it’ll suddenly become unbearable.

Of course, unlike so many others, I’m not going to post complaints about how unfair it is I have to rebuy the same game. I’m not not going to post about how they have to give me a discount to get me to buy it. They won’t. No company will. They’d rather lose out on a sale than give a discount (despite losing more money this way). But I’ll happily explain why we get upset when we’re expected to rebuy the same game again for a new system.

        1. The game is cheaper if you count the cost of that DLC and the new content. Why would they lose more money this way?

So, I still don’t understand the criticism. And the handheld factor matters overall even if not to you specifically.

And most people who bought the wii did not buy a wii U so there are a lot of people (plus people who didn’t have either or are new young gamers) who, probably a lot more than bought MK8 for the wii U, that will still buy it and a lot of the people who will buy it again.

      2. lol I immediately thought of 2 games I bought on PS3: Street Fighter 4 and Marvel vs Capcom 3. Both games are available on PS4 for $25 with upscaled 1080p graphics. That’s more than half off lol

        1. In the case of Street Fighter, the game was 7 years old, as opposed to 3, and the PS3 was a much more successful console than the wii U where a lot of people would have already bought the game or easily could have. Mario Kart, which with all the content is cheaper than the original and gives you an option to play hand held, which the PS3/PS4 crossover does not.

I mean, the argument is silly. Don’t buy if you don’t want to but it is dumb to think they should be discounting the game even further.

          1. oh don’t worry i’m more than happy to buy the game again on switch. I bought a physical copy on Wii U day before release day and later bought a digital d/l copy during a sale. I love Mario Kart lol

    2. Yeah Brandon is right bro. The Wii U wasnt a crap console as you put it. It suffered poor marketing and an under-utilized controller. It was demanding to work with for developers. But it wasnt crap. MK8 on Wii U still looks amazing, even now, years after release. Quit your bitching. If you dont want to pay to play a game you’ve already played, then dont buy it. End of story.

      1. your a f&*king idiot the wiiu had many controllers how the f*&k is a classic pad a pro pad a wii remote a wiiremote and chuck and a gamepad

A CONTROLLER SWITCH IS THE EXACT SAME THING IN REVERSE WITH ALL OF THE ABOVE INTEGRATED

WIIU HAD ACONTYROLLERNO IT DID NOT IT HAD MANY MANY CUTTING EDGE AND FAR SUPERIOR CONTROLLERS

So much damage control for this port with what essentially could have been free DLC, or paid DLC worth 15-20 bucks, for Mario Kart 8 on Wii U. *shrug* Meh… Whatever…
