XSEED Will Be Making Nintendo Switch Announcements Soon

XSEED has clarified its support for the Nintendo Switch to a curious Reddit user. The company has said in an email that they’re big supporters of Nintendo’s latest system and that we should all expect some announcements soon. The company wouldn’t tease what to expect but they say that the announcements could be for things you may not specifically be thinking about.

“We are big supporters of the Switch so you’ll definitely be seeing some announcements about it from us soon, though it may not specifically be for the titles and series you’re looking for.”

  1. Senran Kagura wouldn’t be too surprising considering the series’ recent appearances on 3DS. Legends of Heroes is what I’m really looking forward to, if they end up announcing that.

        1. Not very good ones I fear. I don’t remember anything really good from them. Even last Story wan’t really successful. Almost good, but…

          1. The Last Story was well received, and they’ve been involved with a few series that are usually well received: Legend of Heroes, Corpse Party, Story of Seasons, Shantae. They’ve never published any revolutionary or must-play titles or anything, but I don’t think it’s fair to describe their projects as “not very good ones.”There are a few games they could bring to Switch that would be solid additions.

            1. No, very good means they get more 7 than 9. Not that I’m saying they are bad.
Last Story is 78 on GameRankings, it sold 600k. Fair but not astounding. If that is the best of the crop that’s not ‘very good’. Isn’t it?

              1. Nintendo First Order Commander Quadraxis

                ||Certainly better than any lesser garbage made by some Indie Tribes like The Letter cattle tool…||

                  1. Nintendo First Order Commander Quadraxis

                    ||I’ve never bought it or played it, The First Order just does not accept garbage…||

              2. I figured that’s what you were trying to say. I just wouldn’t have worded it the way you did. 78 is a good score, and I would describe it as such. I wouldn’t describe it as not very good. I would describe it as good. The other games I listed are in the same boat. They range from about 75 to 90.

Also, The sales don’t really have any bearing on how good a game is. Metroid games typically don’t sell extremely well, but they’re usually very high quality experiences.

          2. Just because you don’t remember, it doesn’t mean they don’t exist. The Legend of Heroes series is phenomenal, and they’ve localized Ys games as well. Don’t get me wrong, they’re no NISA or Atlus (or Working Designs — but no one is :) ), but getting any Legend of Heroes or Ys game is big.

            1. Good games as Ridley said, ok. Sincerely they don’t look to me interesting as good old JRPG but anyway I’m for you that like so much this new breed. :)

              1. I disagree. I agree that most of their games are merely good, and the Ys games they localized aren’t the strongest in the series, but Legend of Heroes is so good. One of those that JRPG fans love, but the series hasn’t found an audience. But yes, hopefully those of us that are fans get to see Trails of the Cold Steel or something on Switch!

                1. Not really in my opinion. Graphics wise was subpar, characters seem taken from a japanese B-movie, animations were mediocre. Another league in respect to the last Xenoblade.
I can understand people liking it but I would not consider it. Eventually it has been overrated and overhyped.
I understand why it got no audience.
I think it’s bad to confuse very good games like Xenoblade with decent games like this one. I don’t think it’s a brilliant developer at all.
Still I’m happy it support the Nintendo Switch to please you and the others, I’ve nothing against those games. Just would like to point out that it isn’t up there with the likes of Zelda, Xenoblade and Dragon Quest but fairly distant. I’m just far more excited on a Project Octopath that seems developed by cool artists even if eventually with budget constraints.

                  1. XSEED aren’t developers, they’re publishers. And XCX is the one being overrated if anything. Objectively, the first two Trails in the Sky games have higher aggregated review scores than XCX. And one of the strengths of the Sky games is the uniqueness of every character in it and the dialogue with NPCs, so I don’t know what mediocre review site you took that line from because that’s not even remotely true. Considering XSEED handles that localization, that’s a good job on them, regardless of what you think of Falcom’s work. Also, Trails in the Sky graphics are gorgeous, especially for PSP games.

Anyway, they announced Fate/Extella yesterday, which is not the strongest of games they’ve published. Still a good year for hack and slashers on Switch with FE Warriors and that.

                    1. I wasn’t talking about Trail in the Sky that looks good. I was talking about Trails of Cold Steel, the one that runs on PS3. To me that is poor and cheap and I would not consider it.
Fate/Extella don’t look good in my opinion, similar to Trails of Cold Steel graphically, looks cheap.

                  2. Admittedly, I haven’t played Cold Steel 1 or 2 as PSP is the only Sony console I’ve ever owned lol. But I would most definitely support them if they ported those games to Switch. It got good reviews and is still a LOH game. But I don’t really care about the graphics for these games (might affect me more in a hack and slash). Artstyle is what I care for, and I’m pretty fond of Fate/Extella’s, as well as most XSEED games. But reading the reviews, it got a poor score because it was unoriginal and repetitive, but seems to be a considered a quality hack and slash.

                    1. I don’t understand the whole ‘support’ thing. I do buy games only if a like them very much not because I want to ‘support’ a developer/publisher. If it’s a mediocre offering it does not deserve any support, I would not buy it even if I had more money available.
If you like it than obiously it’s a different story. Though for me they are very modest, except that Trail in the Sky that looks good.

                  3. I agree, that’s why I said “it got good reviews and still is a LOH game.” It’s by no means considered a bad game (and the first one also has a higher score than XCX). I would support it because they have a great track record with Trails games, and this one seems to be no different based on reviews and footage. I want more Trails games on the Switch, so I would buy any Trails games (unless it got horrible reviews). For something like Fate/Extella? I’m not buying that just because XSEED published it as it doesn’t look like a game I’d like. I don’t even like Warriors games.

FYI, if you’re interested in the Trails in the Sky series, they’re on Steam and don’t require a high end PC to play ($50 total for both). The final chapter of the trilogy is out in English next month. I absolutely encourage everyone to play Trails in the Sky!

                    1. I would consider a Trails in the Sky if on Nintendo Switch. That’s the type of game I would like to play on a (portable) console instead of a PC.
I can understand your excitement about that title but the 3D ones (Cold Steel) are really ugly, supporting cheap software would not make them good. Not now nor tomorrow.
I find Suikoden III still appealing (far less than II anyway), the difference is that wasn’t cheap yesterday and isn’t cheap now. Cold Steel was cheap and will be cheap forever, and developers should be discouraged to make cheap offerings.

I’d love to have a direct sequel to The Last Story. The sequel can focus on Therius & his goal to rid the kingdom of corrupt knights & lords. The game’s story always gave me the impression Lazulis Island wasn’t the only place in the empire with corruption. An HD remaster of the first one would be nice, too. Maybe some changes to the online, too. It’s sad co-op was only for bosses. I would have liked to actually explore the many dungeons & such with a group of other human players.

The Last Story 2 with Therius as the main character would be awesome! Of course, that’s more up to Mistwalker than XSeed, sadly, since XSeed merely published the game in the US.
