We’ve seen multiple attempts at speed run’s for Zelda: Breath Of The Wild as of late but none have attempted to 100% complete the game before running to Calamity Ganon to give him what-for. French gamer, Xalikah, successfully retrieved all 900 Korok seeds, completed all shrines, snapped photo’s of everything to complete your in-game compendium and obtained all permanent items and upgrades in just a little over 49 hours. He live-streamed the affair and it can be viewed here – although I’d heavily suggest you view it in smaller viewing sessions.
Kotaku recently spoke to him and Xalikah admits that tiredness was his biggest enemy: “I had a good start on the first 24 hours. When I hit 30 hours, it was hard for me,” Xalikah said. “I felt like the run wasn’t going to end, so I decided to take a nap break.”
He now aims to 100% beat the game in under 40 hours. Better him than me; I’m 70 hours in and only 2 Devine Beasts down.
If anyone from this community does it under 40 hours; I’ll bake them a cake and deliver it to them regardless of where you are in the world…

Assuming this guy got all the exclusive amiibo gear, upgraded all armour and did everything else? Seems impossible. I’ve played countless hours on this game and I’ve finished just one divine beast. I’m in no rush to finish. This game is something to be savoured

completed everything, except the korok seeds and compendium as they felt too much a chore to me. And did it in over 190 hours… gotta ride my horse directionlessly… Just love this game.

Most of the time I just give my horse instruction to move and look around. Interesting stuff is bound to be seen xD
Farming Star Fragments, Opals and Topaz for the Wind and Twilight gear-sets was close to the limit of feeling like a chore… but completed that also ;-)

I doubt hes done it 100%… I am now on 190+ hours… I have done all devine beasts, all 120 shrines, all 76 side missions, i have all amiibo stuff, all memories, all clothing (barring the MM and SS amiibos) and all nearly maxxed out, every place on map, all mini games, all horsey stuff lol I’m on like 750+ koroks, all hearts and most stamina, hyrule compendium 100% and I’ve done Hundreds of secret chests … Sooo yeah
It’s on video. Speedrunners route this stuff so that it’s as efficient as possible.
I’ve completed every shrine, side quest, ancient weapons, horses, mini games, equipment sets, horse gear, and even have the Molduga metal. I’m at about 45% cause I only have just about 300 seeds. Don’t get me wrong I have nothing bad to say about this game, matter of fact I think it’s a f**king work of art, but the completion rate is completely flawed.
How does seemingly everyone know how long they’ve played the game for? I wish I knew how many hours I’ve put into the game.

There is no way I could get anywhere near 100% without a guide. Just too hard and time consuming for me. I beat the game mostly without any help but even to do that I needed help in a few places. I am 100% sure I will never 100% this game. Especially if koroks are a part of that 100% lol

Speed runners don’t immediately go to running a game. They play it casually and complete the game first. Then they route the most efficient routes to finish the game. People who speed run are simply getting more replay value out of a game they enjoy.
I’m always skeptical of speed runners. Especially with a game like this. I’ve been playing for well over a month now, and I’m STILL discovering new things in the game. Every time I think I’ve seen it all, something new happens. I don’t think I’ve ever played any Zelda game this long before (or any game, period). I don’t want to fight Ganon yet. Even though I have the Master Sword, and have completed all 4 Divine Beast dungeons. I don’t want the game to end. I waited too long for this. I just wish I knew how many more shrines I have left to find.
Some people just make me feel really inadequate. Speed runners are one category. Dark robot Commander thingies are another… :P
