There’s a brand new update for the Nintendo Switch available which brings the system to firmware version 2.2.0. Nintendo of America has stated on their product support page that the update brings “general system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience,” which means that it is just another stability update.
Thanks to alexinfurs for the tip!
Just another boring stability update. Alright people. Nothing to see here. Geez Nintendo. This is getting really old…
Who needs features!?
I consider the switch being SO STABLE THAT IT CAN BALANCE BY ONE JOYCON, AND NOT FALL OVER, a feature.
The stability is UNREAL!
Internet explorer, Netflix? Hellooooo?
#1: internet explorer? really? no. A web browser is needed, but having nothing is better than internet explorer.
#2: programming a netflix application is the responsibility of netflix, not nintendo.
Also gamecube games etc in eshop.
I think this updates are fine, if it mean that we’ll have better battery life and maybe less RAM usage from the main interface.
My Switch has frozen on the home screen twice now, so hopefully this is an attempt at fixing issues like that.
I haven’t had that happen yet exactly but I have had one problem so far. I was playing bomberman in story mode and after I finished a level I put it in sleep mode and left it over night. The next day I had a friend come over and we wanted to play multiplayer b-man. I woke up the system and went to back out of story mode to the main menu and it just got stuck on the loading screen, it didn’t freeze but just sat there loading, so after about 3 minutes of waiting I just went to the home screen and closed the app and re-opened it and everything was fine after that.
I was playing Zelda in handheld mode when a blaring noise started. I saved, closed the game, and attempted to turn off the system. The screen went black but it was still on with that noise for like 5-10 minutes. Then it finally fully turned off and I turned it on again and it was back to normal.
WE REQUIRE STABILITY!!
Man, the Switch is already as stable as the Commander’s emotional state… Which is to say, either incredibly stable or non-existent… :P
I just need it to fix my difficulty watching videos in the news section. That’s the killer for me. Takes forever to buffer and then it says cannot play. Smh. Other than that I’m pretty satisfied with my Switch 👌🏽
That’s weird. I’ve never had that problem. So many weird little glitches that seem like one-off finicky problems! No wonder it is so hard to exterminate them.
Sounds like it might be more of a problem with your Internet. My videos all run perfectly when I’m at home but I have really good internet and my router is right next to my dock. At work I have to use a wifi hotspot that is not nearly as good and my videos barely play. Have you tried doing the connection test to see what your download/upload speeds are?
You might be right. I have internet hogs that stream video from 4 different devices all at once 20 hrs a day and 7 days a week lol. My connection test came up way 8mb/s downloading and 7mb/s uploading. My router seems to favor them over me lol
oh jeez, yeah that definitely sounds like it is the problem. my d/l speed is usually between 45-50.
I see I’m going to check in with my ISP and see if there’s a remedy for this. Maybe increasing the bandwidth or speed. I’ll know for sure soon
Godspeed to your internet speed!
LOL 😂 Thanks
I just want them to give us an activity log for crying out loud! T_T
Another “stability” update, eh? I wonder what they made “stable” this time. I wonder when is the next “stability” update for the 3DS family of systems.
