Nintendo Tease Splatoon 2’s Story With A Short Prologue

During Nintendo’s recent Direct, the company teased elements of Splatoon 2’s story with a short trailer. However, they’ve now gone even further by releasing a short prologue to the game. Supposedly set months after the last Splatfest, Callie and Marie’s relationship is brought into question. It’s awesome to see the story follow on from the last game, few Nintendo games ever committing to this level of continuity. Check out the prologue below.

About nine months have passed since the final Splatfest.

Twilight lowers its curtain on Inkopolis. Neon signs paint the dusk in brilliant shades of green and pink. The Squid Sisters dance on, as though driven by the Inkling love of battling for turf.

Memories such as these linger, vividly etched in my mind, but feel too like remnants of a long-forgotten past.

It happened the night the final Splatfest came to an end.

The showdown of Callie versus Marie ended in victory for Marie, but there was no ill will between the two. The girls left the studio arm in arm, smiling and laughing as they always had. The bond between them would continue, unbroken, for years to come.

Or so it seemed at the time…

    1. you do know you are comparing a three year old comsole to a month old one right? of course the ps4 could be cheaper by now, it would be if it came out the same time as the switch

        1. Same thing, Xbox One is 3 year old hardware.
Nintendo Switch is using more modern hardware.

Newer Hardware = Higher Price Tag
Older Hardware = Lower Price Tag

PS4 Pro is more than the Nintendo Switch and the same with the Scorpio, so why aren’t you complaining about them?

            1. It is simple my dear friedn gamingfan2009, in europe companies cant decide a fixed pricepoint, the retailers do that. The Switch has high demand so the price rises, this will change when the demand becomes less.

Now if you are in Canada (and yes ive done the conversion) C$430 = $315,81(if that is what you mean)

              1. You can get a ps4 for $339 here and the switch is $469. Its just not a good price and its not selling either. If its not the same price as the other consoles they just wont be competitive.

          1. Look it up on Amazon, a new one is being sold for $392.40, and that’s from a scalper reselling it above retail value. I see no evidence of your $469 claim.

        1. >”gamingfan”
          >Complains about the Nintendo Switch Price

A true fan wouldn’t care as much about the price, just as long as they know that they’re supporting their favorite video game company by purchasing their products.

                1. lol I used to defend the wii u all the time on this site. You wouldnt know though because you werent here before and soon after the wii u launch. You calling me a troll means nothing to me because you are just a new knob on this site.

                2. If anything, you’re the one grasping at straws here. This bloke over there is unhappy with the current price of the Switch in his country, and you all flip the fuck out and denounce him as a “pathetic internet troll” with little reason whatsoever. Your logic hardly makes any sense whatsoever, “lol”.

                  1. There’s a lot of reason whatsoever. This isn’t just an isolated incident, this guy has constantly been posting negative b.s. since the switch reveal trailer. He used to bitch and complain constantly about the switch being a hybrid system and kept whining about how they lost him as a customer because he wanted a traditional console like an xbox or ps4. Now he’s here complaining about how he can’t afford to buy the console that he swore he would never buy. This guy is a flip flopping troll and if it looks like everyone is “denouncing” him it’s just because everyone is tired of his constant crying. It’s literally like watching a child throw a temper tantrum every time he makes a post. “el oh el”

            1. At least you’re a character troll designed to combat the commander, so you’re somewhat entertaining and funny. Gamingfan2009 doesn’t have real opinions, he’s just purposely negative for trolling sake even if it means contradicting himself lol

Watching someone constantly bitch, moan, whine, and cry gets pretty old after awhile.

              1. Anubis, the Devil Dog

Oh, well I haven’t really paid him much attention so I’d just assumed that everyone was being an asshole, and…well, that’s my job.

          1. Yup, a true fan of gaming is willing to effectively bankrupt himself if it helps the already rich corporation that is his favorite game company. Anyone who thinks otherwise is quite obviously just a troll/punk/hater!!!11!!1!

        2. And the fact it’s newer hardware… try again kiddo.
PS4 costed more than a PS3 Super Slim when it first came out as it was newer hardware, yet you didn’t complain about that?

But keep trying, you’ll get their, just need to fix your broken logic.

        3. You’re not very bright, are you? Just order your switch from another region and pay international shipping. It would still be cheaper than paying 469. They are region free. Dont blame Nintendo for something thats not their fault.

    2. This comment thread is about Splatoon 2, not your little pity party you want people to attend because you don’t like the price of a console in your country. Show some respect to the Squid Sisters you whiny little baby garbage troll.

            1. Figured I would just match his level of effort. All he can come up with is calling me a “fanboy”. But if we were to use his logic from 2012 when he posted as “Gamer” I’m not actually a fanboy because I also own a PS4 and a PS Vita. Therefore he has invalidated his own “insult” towards me with his very own logic. el oh el oh el oh el oh el oh el infinity repeating.

    3. “The true culprit comes down to a tariff on importing from overseas into Australia. Each video game console you import into Australia regardless of where it comes from carries a $23.20AUD Import Processing Charge.

Nintendo Switch in North America costs $299.99USD. Converting that to Australian currency brings the cost to $399.96AUD. Then we add the $23.20AUD Import Processing Charge per unit brings the price up to $423.16AUD. Adding the Australian Goods and Services Tax (GST) to that figure brings the price up to $465.48AUD.”

There you go, so blame your country, not Nintendo. Now you can shut up about this, and use that time to think about something new to cry about on the Internet lolololololol

        1. Well I would have to assume since those consoles were released 3 years ago there is now a substantial amount that have been imported over to your country, not to mention that these consoles have already received price drops to their respective retail price worldwide. I think those factors might be why they are not the same price as a brand new console. In fact, if we do a quick google search we find that the PS4 launched on November 29th at a retail price of $549 in Australia. And if we dig just a little further we find this interesting article about 36 years of console price inflation in Australia:

          https://www.kotaku.com.au/2013/12/36-years-of-console-prices-adjusted-for-inflation/

          Hope that helps!

  1. The commander is a fool. He speaks as though he is entangled with high command, but in reality he is as much connected to Nintendo as a child who get a decoder ring out of a cereal box is connected to the FBI. It is all in his feeble mind. Pathetic machine. His artificial intellegence in so narrow he cant see the obvious error of his ways.

    1. Nintendo First Order Commander Quadraxis

      ||Foolish child, I’ve mentioned several times in the past that I am not a part of High Command nor have a direct access to their line, I do however have a significant line which I will never mention…||

  2. I find it rather amazing that we, the players, may have influenced this game’s story by deciding the outcome of the last Splatfest. …Or maybe the results were rigged and they had the plot for the sequel planned all along! Haha!
