Nintendo will no doubt be celebrating this evening as it has emerged that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is the best-selling video game in the United Kingdom this week. The excellent racer is the first Nintendo title to reach number one since Pokémon White back in 2011 and is also the first Mario game to top the charts since 2008. The news comes directly from Christopher Dring who writes for Gamesindustry.biz and was previously with MCV.

UK isn’t really important. When it will be ‘EU’ (Germany, France, Italy, Spain and UK) then it will matter more.
Why makes you think the Uk charts hold no value? Maybe MK 8 being the number one spot in the Uk will reflect in the rest of the EU gaming charts.

UK may not be the biggest Nintendo market in Europe, it is one if not the biggest market in Europe

Remember that UK is one of the hardest regions for Nintendo to sell, so it is great news.
I didn’t even know this game was released yet, until I saw it at Target. It’ll be a LONG time before I own it. Probably not until Mario Kart 9 is out.
