Most of us can put our hands up and admit to pulling all-nighters due to the fact that a new game has entered our lives. Four IGN staff members did just that with the recently released Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in what ended up as a test of endurance as they stayed in the IGN office until the full 24 hours was up. They continually raced one another; even whilst taking trips to the toilet. They even got time to squeeze in a trip to the local pub.
You can check out their video below:
My longest play session was with Goldeneye on the N64 – how about yours?
||Good, just give in to the power of Nintendo…||
Nintendo Power.
Now they’re playing with power…

My longest play sessions was Skyrim….until Breath of the Wild came out ….😴
Forget that, I’m just happy that they went back to the old layout. They better keep it imo.
I really liked the previous one but it completely broke the commenting system.
Get Bob The Boulder to fix it. Problem solved!
*Builder wtf……….
Ha, good thinking! :D
I understand that you were trying to make the site better mate, but it just felt way too busy and crowded. Perhaps try changing to a more simplistic/Metro look instead?
Yeah, to be honest it caused quite a bit of upheaval so I’m going to continue with this theme for a while. It works but the mobile side of things isn’t the best it could be.
The concept behind it wasn’t so bad, but it just looked way too crowded, you could only read very few words of the title of each article in the tiles, neither were there any time stamps for the articles, and the comments section was a huge mess in itself.
I’ve been hoping for this theme to change ever since the beginning of 2017, considering we always got a new one at the beginning of each year, because I think this current one is really bad on mobile. Unfortunate that we won’t be getting a new one for a while, but yea, I’ll take this theme over the one you tried out any day, hah.
I’d love to mess around with the themes but it’s a big site and a big change to the users. No-one will want me changing the theme every day till I find the right one, ha :) I have one in mind though but we shall see. Yeah, there’s a Twenty Seventeen theme but it’s more geared towards businesses rather than blogs.
Could always use your PSV blog for testing themes. :^)
But joking aside, I understand! But yea, still looking forward to the day a new theme will be introduced. :)
If you’d like my suggestion, how about this theme? https://mythemeshop.com/themes/metro/
Demo: http://demo.mythemeshop.com/s/?theme=Metro
I think it’d work well for the blog. Keeps everything clean looking but gives the page more “substance” than what we currently have on here.
Any chance this new theme you have in mind involves an edit button?
My longest play session was with Sonic 3 and Knuckles on the Mega Drive. When I was a kid I played it for 15 hours straight collecting all the Rings and monitors in the levels.
I was such a perfectionist back then ahahahaha
Because they can!
No one should do anything for 24 hours straight
Video isn’t 24 hours… I’m disappointed.
I’ve never had a 24-hour gaming session. However, I believe I have had a 12 hour one with Halo 3.
This is precisely why the Switch needs a daily log. I think my longest Nintendo play session was Breath of the Wild with about 9 or 10 hours. The next closest to that was Metroid Prime. I used to put 4-6 hours into that at a time.
I’m pretty sure I once played Skyrim for 12 hours straight. I wouldn’t recommend it. It doesn’t feel good when you realize what you just spent your whole day doing.
I would have to say my longest play session was actually with Mario Maker, making one course- At the Koopa Troupa Karnival. Took me I think 13 hours from start to finish to get it juuuuust right (placing hints, testing to make sure there’s nowhere you can get stuck, etc.).
Next longest was probably F-Zero GX trying to compete story mode chapter 1 on hardest difficulty. Started at 9pm, didn’t succeed until 5am and that was with grand prix cups in between attempt blocks to cool off after getting frustrated. Getting Phoenix was worth that pain; no idea if I’ll ever be able to do that again.
Wait, I lied- I’ve actually had an all-night Team Fortress 2 session with 3 friends in my dorm’s lounge my first year of college.
“Brisk, where’s that uber!?”
“I’m trying to get there! I have a Spy harassing me in the corridor! Panfried, you deal with that Scout that was giving Sean a hard time? I’m not wasting this uber on a Heavy that’s not him!”
“All he has to do his run through this threshold and my stickies will get him. Just gotta bait him in!”
Good times.
