Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has a wealth of tracks to race on, but what is everyone’s favourite? Well, Nintendo UK recently ran a poll asking this very question and the answer was the tricky but ingenious Rainbow Road. Nintendo UK caught up with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe producer Kosuke Yabuki to quiz him about the design of the popular course and what he is most proud of about it. You can read his response below!
“My favourite part is how the two routes form an intertwined spiral, before heading into the final corner. The design allows for lots of different tactical gameplay depending on your items and the situation around you, such as changing your route, or taking a shortcut between the two paths of the spiral.
However, this is also the part where drivers from all over the world are most likely to fall off the track… If you keep falling off no matter what you do, then in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe you can try turning on Smart Steering. This option now gives anyone the opportunity to have fun driving around.”

I think N64 Rainbow Road and Big Blue are the best tracks, mostly because of their music
I wish N64’s Rainbow Road didn’t have checkpoints, it doesn’t even seem that big to modern standards. Now it’s just too short.
Should’ve been two laps like Wario’s Colosseum was in Double Dash.
My favorite stage will always be baby park. Me and my friends can play that stage for hours because we are so competitive
Rainbow Road has the best soundtrack of them all, but the race itself is too short to be the best overall. The best overall goes to… perhaps Mount Wario. So many good ones.
Star Cup in 8 is the best cup in the series, and it ends with Mount Wario: The best track in the series.
Which is weird because 8’s Rainbow Road is my leadt favorite in the series.
I think the one that feels like rainbow road from Star Cup (the name escapes me) is a better course.

My favorite stage is Dolphin Shoals. Jazz music, beach and underwater setting, idk. Just makes me feel good lol
Still pissed that RR64 was gimped for the sake of filthy casuals.
MK8’s Rainbow Road has been my least favorite of all Rainbow Roads- it’s too technological with the space station and the other hi-tech objects. Rainbow Road should feel more fantastical, and that didn’t do it for me.
My fave MK8 tracks:
1. Dolphin Shoals
2. Sunshine Airport
3. Twisted Mansion
4. Sweet Sweet Canyon (I love using my King Candy Mii on that one)
How odd that the most hated track is the most loved, wow must be a real small fanbase if it’s that track the tourneys i hosted rainbow rd isn’t enjoyed at all. Not meaning to be racist but are you sure it’s really the uk and not japan instead?
n64 and SNES rainbow road are the best rainbow roads
My favs are Shy Guy Falls and Wild Woods. I love in shy guy falls when you are flying over the top and you can see the racers racing along the bottom of the falls. Wild Woods reminds me of the Nopon Village from Xenoblade Chronicles
I hate how it automatically turns on smart steering for the other players whenever you go to play multiplayer. Does anyone know of a way to change that?
