Splatoon 2’s Map Rotation Is Now 2 Hours Instead Of 4

The latest edition of EDGE magazine contains plenty of information about the highly anticipated Splatoon 2 for the Nintendo Switch. One thing that players of the game will be pleased to learn is that the map rotation is now every two hours rather than four hours. This should no doubt come as welcome news to many.

Though with just two maps, one brand-new main weapon and a single game type, we’re left with as many questions as answers. Happily, Nogami is able to answer some of them, including the reason behind the team’s decision to limit the map rotation to two at a time. “We feel that part of the gameplay is actually selecting which weapons would be best for that combination of two maps,” he explains. “In Splatoon 2, the maps rotate every two hours, so it’ll be a much faster cycle than the previous game.”

      1. Seeing how people seem to actually take your commemt seriously, I thought maybe I should add a follow-up and clear up that no, Overwatch does not force you to play on the same two maps for hours. I have 300+ hours on it, so I may or may not know what I’m talking about. Up to you to judge, hah.

      2. do you even know what map rotation is? I cant answer that maybe yes maybe not
Do you know what “Rotation” is? Sure not

        Overwatching Using Map rotation too

Its not the same with Splatoon and splatoon doesn’t own the “Map rotation” idea to have it that idea as exclusive.

So you know about world of warcraft? Do you know about the classes there?
Resto Druid is the Map rotation idea. And each resto druid share the same results that means they are both healers they share the same idea -Map rotation- Yet Both druids They dont using the same “Rotation” to succeed the resault. You get it? Blizzard is the second resto druid who is using different Healing rotation. The reasault is the same Overwatch using some type of rotation Like each time you start searching there is equal % (equal my ass im not getting there to analyse very boring) For each Stage that means the resault is the same as you dont even vote or make a choice for what stage you will play this is a rotation that using % for getting on stages. still same resault you will never play some stages you like mostly.
Also almost same goes for Horoes of the storm

So cut the shit Overwatch using Map rotation same with Heroes of the storm

      ||Or you can use him as a puppet to show your superiority over him…||

  1. King Kalas X3 {Greatness Awaits. This use to be something that awaited those for all consoles. It's sad it's mostly just a PS4 slogan these days. Maybe Nintendo will get back to that greatness with the Switch. Only time will tell.}

I got a much better idea… Get rid of fucking map rotation altogether! Typical Nintendo, though! One step forward, two steps back!

  2. oh boy, map rotation. why don’t they adopt the mario kart system and just let people vote on maps? what’s the deal? it sucked in the first one since, once there were a larger number of maps, you almost never got certain maps. as someone that maybe plays a multiplayer game once a day for half an hour- and hour, it’s shitty that i have to just play whatever nintendo feels like letting me play at the time.

  3. I’m probably the only one happy to have map rotation back rofl. The reason I like it is cause I have something to look forward to throughout the day. I’d probably end up playing longer throughout the course of the day this way instead of getting burned out going all at once.

    1. I’m fine with rotation as well, especially now that its 2 hours. I mostly got to play only 2 maps a day on first Splatoon, with my limited play time.
Even if those 2 maps don’t strike your fancy, you can go to competitive for another set of maps and mode.
And now there’s gonna be co-op mode if neither of sets interest you.

  4. Map rotation should remain in competitive but turf war should ditch it – the nuanced idea of having to pick a loadout for the set of maps in the rotation is not something everyone gets, particularly more casual players.

  5. i really don’t mind map rotation, cutting the time of rotation in half is a good move especially for people like me who don’t always have multiple hours to sit down and play. i like the online map selection process for Mario Kart 8; three options to choose from and one random choice if you are not a fan of the first three choices, once everyone has a choice locked-in then a level is picked from the randomnization of everyone’s choice

  6. Why do people want a voting system? If there was a voting system, then everyone would just pick Splatoon 2’s equivalent of nuke town, which in turn decreases weapon and gear variety.

  7. Wait what? I never even knew there was a map rotation system. Part of the reason I couldn’t get into that game was because I thought there was only a couple maps and I got so sick of playing the same ones over and over.
