Nintendo Asked Third-Party Developer To Release Games As Early As Possible

Nintendo is carrying out its promise to drive first and third-party software momentum according to a new report published by Asia Nikkei. The Kyoto based company asked a Japanese third-party company to introduce its major releases as early as possible on the Nintendo Switch as it doesn’t want a repeat of how things went on the Wii U with the giant software droughts.

Not a few analysts have the impression that Nintendo has learned from its mistakes with its previous console, the Wii U. The company has sought to make it easier to create games for the Switch by expanding the scope of development tools. It is also pushing developers to expand the Switch game lineup quickly. An executive at one software company said Nintendo asked it to introduce major releases “as early as possible.”

    1. Well, Nintendo have a good relationship with third party companies. Even so they trying to fix there mistakes, Nintendo can easily get more third party games on to Nintendo Switch. Besides, it’s a great way for them to support them.

  2. Can we go ahead and permanently ban all the “bots”? I prefer it when comment sections are used for actual discussion.

  3. Nintendo First Order Commander Quadraxis

    ||It’s almost certain High Command asked several western forces to do the same at E3 or sometime before the big holiday season…||

    ||If they still don’t support it then we’ll all know that Nintendo is flawless this time around…||

  4. Not sure how I feel about this. I get they don’t want a drought, but asking them to release them as early as possible is begging for buggy messes that won’t be fully fixed for months.

  5. Or instead, Nintendo could have waited with the release until the end of the year, so the Switch could launch with a great lineup + grant the 3rd-party developers some more time to polish their products to not possibly end up having to put out games infested with bugs.
But what’s done is done, I suppose, haha.

    2. Instead, I guess they’ll have to “suffer” through two major surges of popularity, launch excitement AND Christmas excitement. Oh well. What’s done is done.

      1. I don’t see how a holiday release wouldn’t result in the same thing, with the addition of more time for developers. The Switch had a good launch without games, it would have had an amazing launch with games and the holiday season.

    3. Nintendo First Order Commander Quadraxis

      ||We had zero opponents during this launch in contrary to the holiday season, now that the Switch itself sells, the holiday season will be even bigger…||

      1. That’s a good point, actually. Hadn’t thought about that. And with people already complaining about the price of the Switch, things might have gotten worse when the other consoles are on special deals as opposed to the newly launched $300/320€ Switch.
        I like reasonable replies. (:

        1. Nintendo First Order Commander Quadraxis

          ||Besides our upcoming weapons, we will most likely see a Zelda/Mario Kart/ARMS bundle, Zelda to be the most likely one with ARMS being some sort of bonus promotion like they did with Pikmin 3 as a digital bonus with the Mario Kart 8 bundle…||

          ||That obviously will continue to sell Switches, and now that we have a fully operational marketing and advertisement department, it would be foolish to stop this victorious path…||

          ||And more colour schemes for the JoyCons are just a few of the upcoming plans…||

      2. I was expecting a Mario Kart bundle at the game’s launch, kinda surprised we didn’t get one. But I’m sure we’ll see bundles in the near future. And new colours for the JoyCons should be a given as well, definitely. q:

        1. Nintendo First Order Commander Quadraxis

          ||Maybe they are saving it for Splatoon 2 and ARMS since Mario Kart 8 already had its spot in the dark…||

  7. Can we get apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and other movie watching apps.

Also we need a travel dock!!! One that we could power off a USB hub would be awesome too!!

    1. They want you to play with their games, not to watch movies. I don’t understand how those applications ended in Nintendo xDS and Wii U for starting. System sells anyway and those apps distract customers from Nintendo content.

  8. Asking is one thing – there needs to be an incentive for 3rd parties to support a system other than “please do it for us kthx”. The Switch has sold well so far, so maybe the initial momentum will help with 3rd party support…but Nintendo still needs to ensure they have a solid lineup of their own games as well. Wii U got the support it needed from Nintendo….3 years into its lifespan, so hopefully they don’t repeat those mistakes.
