If you were hoping to play Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition with a single Joy-Con, you may be left disappointed. The game doesn’t support playing with one Joy-Con controller and requires all players to have at least two joysticks at their disposal. This means that you either need your own pair of Joy-Con controllers or a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition was released earlier today, May 11, via the Nintendo eShop. It comes with several add-on packs, including the Super Mario Mash-Up pack. You can check out the official launch trailer below:
Well, A great way not to use the feature that makes the switch stand out. I have a pro controller so it’s not a big deal for me but 2 player Minecraft on the go is now much more of a hassle
Less of a hassle than trying to use a single-joystick controller for a game that needs twin sticks for movement and aiming, I reckon.
Would love to hear your explanation on how you can play Minecraft with only one Joy-Con.
It would be seriously inconvenient, but technically possible.
Gyro for aim, simlilar to how FPS on Wii worked.
Says on the shop page that single joy con multiplayer is supported. Isn’t that false advertising?
LET’S SUE MICROSOFT!
}{ The number of buttons required exceeds the number on a single joycon… To anyone who can count, this news is unsurprising… }{
This has already been confirmed since a couple weeks back it’s not really new but I guess people may have missed it
How can you play minecraft without dual analog sticks anyway?
Just asking, is it possible to change language option within the game?
I think you can change the language by changing your switch’s settings. Change the language to what ever language you would like and I think minecraft will be in that language.
tbh I’d be more surprised if it did.
Okay, but can you move your reticle in the game via motion control by moving the right Joy-Con (like aiming a bow in Breath of the Wild)? That’s how I’d prefer to play this one since BotW proved it possible.
Botw is a third person game,Minecraft is first person. Motion controls for a first person camera would be horrible
You would be suprised how well motion controls can be for fps.
Did you not play Metroid Prime 3, or the Triology..?
And yet Metroid Prime 3/Trilogy pulled it off perfectly, and aiming Splatterscopes in Splatoon via MC came pretty close too.
It would be news if it did.
Isn’t they’re an Amazon prime Minecraft (minicraft or something?) Clone that uses motion controls that only uses a remote/wand that has a single joystick… and it sucks?
Or maybe it’s Apple TV
Whats the news here??? Every FP game needs two joystick… I meant… Logic.
As cool as single joy con control can be for games like Mario Kart, we have to accept that such a thing simply won’t work for a lot of modern games. Specially any that require two thumb sticks being used at the same time
